When can I start to chew?
I am now 4 weeks and 2 days out. I meet with Julie on Friday and Dr W. cannot see me until next Friday. (apparantly that is her only day to see patients?) When can I start to eat? Do I have to wait for clearance next week? I hope not. I am dying to start eating crab meat and lobster! Some one mentioned that I would get a packet --- will that be from PMRI? If not do you think Dr W would give me one if I just stopped by? As you can imagine I am ready to start getting ready to eat as I have to return to the work force soon....
See some of you tomorrow night.
Take care,
Terre
Dear Terre,
My suggestion is don't do anything until you get a release from Dr, Wynn's office. I actually saw Brett and haven't seen Dr. Wynn since my surgery. I was a little over 5 weeks out before I was released to eat anything other than the pureed. Didn't you get a packet from PMRI? This lets you know that you can have soft scrambled eggs, oatmeal etc. during the pureed stage. That still means CHEW, chew, AND CHEW some more. It won't be long, don't get discouraged cause you'll be "chewing" for a long time.
The packet I got from PMRI gave alot of details. The one that you'll probably get from Dr. Wynn's office just gives you the progression into foods, but it will be a great help.
Enjoy the journey!!!!
God Bless,
Mama mama
I got the packet prior to my surgery so I don't see why they wouldn't give you one now. It's nothing magical. It's still 6 meals a day and don't drink within a half hour on either side of eating. If you have trouble with a solid, retry it again in about two weeks. Things may change. It's important to get your routine down before returning to work. Don't you require a clearance to go back to work. I had to get Brett to sign off prior to getting back on site.
