Who went to the PMRI meeting tonight?

I was all excited about going to the PMRI meeting tonight as a post-op but I ended up spending the day in the hospital. It wasn't because of the gastri bypass surgery but since the surgery my heart is beating irregularly. I saw Dr Adeleke last week but it really got bad over the weekend so his office sent me to St Francis Hospital where he was working in the ER. Long story short I'm on meds to slow my heart down and stop it from going into A-fib. I love that man! He's smart, compassionate , and knows what to say to calm you down!. Anyway, I'm home and missed the PMRI meeting and really wanted to see everyone as well as get the handout they usually give. Can someone scan me a copy of any handouts you got? Thanks Kathleen

Wow, Kathleen. Glad you are feeling better. I didn't go either but wanted to wish you well. I am also a huge fan of that man, he is so great and so caring. You are in good hands. Dianne

Kathleen, So good to hear everything is alright!!! Continue to take good care of yourself!!! I didn't make it to the meeting ... I was up in PA and not able to make it home until about 10:00 pm last night. I would love a copy of the information also please if possible. Would have loved to have made it for that topic but had prior comments. Hugs, Tammy

Hi Kathleen, The meeting was packed and overflowing out into the hallway. There was not a lot of information given (I think there was one sheet of paper handed out on the ABC's of eating A=attitude or something else), B=behaviour,C=consequences. More talk from the audiences and behaviors for a couple of key questions, such as how do you eat slower?, how do you make the right choices?, how do you avoid dumping?, should you avoid dumping.

Hi! My husband and I went to the meeting last night. I've never seen it that packed! The "ABC's" were - Antecedent, Behavior and Consequences. The hand-out is on purple paper titled "Eating is Easy...(but life isn't)". One side asks you to list the reasons why you eat. The other side lists the most common reasons why people eat. The 5 main emotions that lead people to eat are: depression, anxiety, boredom, loneliness and anger. It's nothing that you haven't heard before. The best part was the open conversation from the floor. We heard from a woman who can tolerate a cookie or two and those who would never try because they're afraid that they'd start craving them again. We heard from pre-ops worried about food variety & surviving the puree phase. The main topic was making sure that post-ops are vigilant about staying on their diets (and exercise) and the pre-ops should be practicing these new behaviors before they have the surgery. The biggest concern for folks seemed to be the risk of weight re-gain. Finally, a post-op woman shared a very sad story with us about her "best friend". Apparently her friend has become extremely jealous and hostile to the point where she's had to end their friendship. Sad but true. Hope this helps.

Kathleen, I will scan the page in work tomorrow and send handout along to you. It was a good meeting and I enjoyed it. My husband was hungry so I could not stay and chat with people. He is my biggest supporter so if he is hungry we feed him! LOL I don't miss that feeling although I know it will be back soon! Debbie

I was there also. It was my first time out, so it was nice to meet (or at least to see people !!! Sounds like you're all caught up on the paperwork from the meeting. I'm looking forward to meeting more people on the 28th.
