Tried Unjury
Hi all,
I had my pre-op appt with Dr Wynn a couple of weeks ago, surgery date of Aug 17th and she told me to find a protein I can take.So i ordered a sample of chocolate UNJURY and tried in in a glass of skim milk.I thought it tasted like ovaltine and was wonderful......UNTIL about a half hr later I started to feel naseous.I sat stilll for a while hoping it would go away but it didn't.I ended up sick in the bathroom for a few hours off and on all night. Now when I drank this mix i gulped it down because it was so good, was that my downfall or is UNJURY just not for me?BTW I have gerd and with that goes a sensitive stomach.I thought UNJURY was easily digestable and I wouldn't have a problem with it.Any other suggestions for a protein drink for the sensitive of stomach.Good flavor is a must or it won't pass my lips.Drinks ,powders, bars all suggestions welcome as long as it tastes good.
Hi Denise,
I had a very difficult time finding a protein drink I liked and would not gag on. Unjury was not good for me either. So far the only protein I can drink is Protein DeLite made by SciTech Nutrition. The banana is my favorite but te pineapple is also good. I mix 1.5 scoops with 8 ounces of cold water and add ice. It tastes awesome. Hope
Denise,
I used to be a huge Unjury fan ... but like everything else when it comes to this surgery (at least for me) what worked yesterday, does not necessarily work today. One day I could do Unjury the next day I could not ... go figure. At any rate, that left me with a HUGE supply of Unopened Chocolate Unjury (lesson learned) and the need to scury around and try to replace my protein. I ended up running to the Vitamin Shop and bought Champion Nutrition Chocolate Whey Stack. It worked, so I ordered it and Champion Nutrition ProScore 100. I have settled down to the ProScore 100. I also like ProPlete Gold (I think most people do). I have also heard rave reviews on the Nectar Protein, but I am not able to do it ... I dump on it for whatever reason - I have only heard of one other person that dumps on it.
My recommendation to you would be to purchase a variety of samples and remember that all our tastes are different. Even our own tastes can be different before and after surgury. I ended up buying one container of protein that I liked before surgery to use afterwards. Good thing too, cause I found that I didn't necessarily care for it post-op, but I drank it anyway because I realized the absolute need for the protein for my body to heal correctly. Also remember that you will not be able to do the protein bars right away (the first month or so).
Likely I will be placing an order soon and will be trying out another company - I talked with them on the phone for over a half hour ... they gave me a ton of wonderful information and their product appears to be excellent quality while keeping the costs lower - but I have not tried the product yet, just wanted to let you know it was there. Not sure if they have samples ... forgot to ask. Will check with them before I order though. http://www.allthewhey.com
