Need to vent....
My husband lost his job yesterday (and his health benefits)... He worked for Johnson Controls in Middletown. They made car batteries... seems that they are moving production to good ole' Mexico!! I'm really nervous right now... We know the job market is not that great out there! Hopefully, he will get a job soon! My job don't offer benefits.. ahh!!!
Ginger,
Know how you feel. My job was outsourced to India in April. Job market is not great. Best thing to do is to vent and then get busy looking. He is eligible for COBRA, which allows you to buy the health benefit. Hopefully something will pop up. Thank God, I had this surgery, prior to being released because I know that I would not have survived.
Ginger, my job of 23 yrs was outsourced to Canada in December. I received severence until Aug 6th. Fortunatly I was able to bridge my health benefits & retire because I was 55 in May. I was happy that my surgery would not be affected. I would have been pissed off if I'd gone through all the prep for a year and not been able to have had the WLS in January. It worked in my favor, it's given me the oppurtunity to take care of me without the stress of work. I just got my 1st unemployment check on Wednesday. So I think I'll be fine for 26 weeks, then I'll start looking for something, maybe. LOL. Hope he finds something comparable and close to home. One door closes and another opens. I'll keep him and your family in my prayers. ((HUGS)) Elissa
Ginger, I am sorry to hear that. It makes me feel bad for posting & whining abotu our missed out on vacation. I don't know what I'd do if that happened to us, I don't know if we could even make it more then 1 month. We'd have to scramble for sure. I don't know what he is qualified to do, but I have seen lots of stuff in the Sunday papers the last few weeks. I hope they gave him some severence but that seem**** & miss these days. I don't know much about unemployment either. I don't know anyone hiring for anything personally but I wish you the best of luck when he starts looking into the job market.
Hey, Ginger...
I know just how you're feeling, hon. My husband lost his job TWO days before we left for vacation...how's THAT for timing? I guess it was better knowing before we left and possibly spruged on items, but still... The vacation house was already paid for, so we went. Fortunetly, he found something even better the very next week we were back...and I'm sure your husband will, too!
We will all be praying for your family and wishing your hubbie the best of fortune!
(((hugs)))
P.S. There is another Johnson Controls facility in New Castle...I believe they deal with making car doors for Chrysler. Are they moving to Mexico, too, or would he maybe have an opportunity there? Just a thought...
