Hi! Since nobody has brought it up, I will. After the surgery, are your periods regular? Are they as heavy as they were before the surgery? How do you handle PMS and food cravings post-op? Please share.

Cassandra, My first period after surgery was very early (just a couple of days after I got home from the hospital - about 2.5? weeks early I think). I understand this is not at all unusual that is why it is recommended that we take protection to the hospital with us regardless of when our cycle is due. Normally I am 28 days regular, don't have a lot of PMS (hubby may disagree *grin*) and have very little food cravings (related to my cycle anyway). But just to let you know, I am still extrememly regular, HOWEVER, my cycle was pretty heavy for the first few months after surgery, and now I am much lighter than is usual for me. Not a problem in my book! I think it is kinda different for everyone!!! Hugs, Tammy

Cassandra, I learned that even if a woman is post menapausal, (sp) she can return to having a cycle. So the key here is diversity. No one knows. Everyone could be different. And by all means use birth control. Those hormones must be going crazy with being disturbed and one should be prepared for everything. I never experienced PMS. Thank God, I was spared. Nor did I experience Hot Flashes when I went through menapause. Another Thank you to God. I have been very blessed. Elissa

Mine were regular ... for all of 2 months. But as I mentioned my ovulation date changed by over a week for some reason. If you have irregular periods due to PCOS then the radid WS can help get them on track.

I stopped having my period before surgery. After surgery I had it. Then it skipped a month. This past month I have had it 3 times!!! Yep 3 That has never happened before. Paid a visit to my OBGYN and she said that I was alright that my hormones were all screwed up from the weight loss and surgery that it takes awhile for the body to become accustom to the new us. Best wishes to you! Elizabeth M
