tummy tuck questions
Hello all,
I have not even scheduled my date for my rny surgery and am a little concerned about the after effects. I am committed to the surgery and doing everything possible to do things right after the surgery including going back to the gym. I am at good health all except my weight is 300lbs, no health problems accept for joint pain. My question is that I am afraid that I will have alot of extra skin hanging around. After I lose all my weight do you ladies or gents who have extra skin or sagging breasts that have made you go to a tummy tuck and all the other kinds of surgery?
Hi Cynthia,
I think we all had the concern of excess skin after loosing a lot of weight. I had hoped I would be a fortunate one and be "perfect" after loosing the weight. I am only 33 and kept the exercising going. But as it turned out I have a lot of excess skin in my tummy and my thigh, my breast sag mildly and I have mild bat wings. I had been over weight since I was 5 and my top weight was 269.....I am now down to 147. I am scheduled for a tummy tuck and thigh lift on August 19th. I won't be a year out until Septmeber 29th but I am only 7 lbs from goal and they say that will come off with dead fat and excess skin. I fought my insurance company to cover the procedures and finally won! Don;t worry too much about the excess skin.... you don't need to be thinking of that right now. You will need to concentrate on becoming healthy and eating properly and in time you can start to worry about skin. If it weren't for the problems the skin causes me then I would be satisfied, for now anyway, with my appearance.
Peace~~ Hope
Hi Cynthia!
Ditto on the excess skin concerns. I don't have a surgery date yet but I do know that I don't have $20,000 laying around to get a full body lift. You may want to check out the Plastic Surgery message board on this sight. That was helpful to me. Many of the responses that I received said they just had to make payment plan arrangements or take out a loan because the loose skin was keeping them just as embarrassed as being overweight.
One woman shared how she had come through the surgery and made it to goal weight only to be too ashamed of her loose skin to wear a bathing suit. Yikes! Although not the most important consideration, I definitely believe it's worth considering when making your decision to have the surgery. Good luck!
