Hello everyone--I am sche...
The answer to your question(s) is determined by your surgeon. Each one has different ideas and expectations. Your surgeon should have given you a packet of pre- and post- surgery info to follow. If not I would call them and ask for the information.
Even climbing stairs is different depending on your surgeon. I didn't have any problem getting up and down the stairs from my first day back from the hospital but I have heard that some people camped out on their first floor. I love my bed too much not to have made it up the stairs (plus a shower was a necessity). You can order Unjury at www.unjury.com It usually goes out the same day you order so it is on your doorstep within 2-3 days.

Welcome, Karen.
If your doc suggests clear liquid diet pre op, then Sugar-Free Popsicles, chicken broth, diet sprite, Sugar-Free Jello will get you through that.
Post Op and puree-- tuna, potted ham/meats, ricotta cheese, cottage cheese, creamed soups, mashed potatoes, yogurt, cream of rice, etc. Don't forget to use protein powders, vitamins, etc.
If you have to cook for a family, put chicken or whatever you cook in the food processor and take it to the puree stage. I don't make things liquified , but make them the consistancy of finely chopped tuna.
But do ask your surgeon. Good luck.
