Hello everyone--I am scheduled for surgery in Baltimore on august 17. I've had a lot of last supper syndrome lately and can't wait for the surgery! Also any words of advice on what to have in the house when you get home? Can you climb stairs right away? and were do you get unjury?

The answer to your question(s) is determined by your surgeon. Each one has different ideas and expectations. Your surgeon should have given you a packet of pre- and post- surgery info to follow. If not I would call them and ask for the information. Even climbing stairs is different depending on your surgeon. I didn't have any problem getting up and down the stairs from my first day back from the hospital but I have heard that some people camped out on their first floor. I love my bed too much not to have made it up the stairs (plus a shower was a necessity). You can order Unjury at www.unjury.com It usually goes out the same day you order so it is on your doorstep within 2-3 days. Rob

Welcome, Karen. If your doc suggests clear liquid diet pre op, then Sugar-Free Popsicles, chicken broth, diet sprite, Sugar-Free Jello will get you through that. Post Op and puree-- tuna, potted ham/meats, ricotta cheese, cottage cheese, creamed soups, mashed potatoes, yogurt, cream of rice, etc. Don't forget to use protein powders, vitamins, etc. If you have to cook for a family, put chicken or whatever you cook in the food processor and take it to the puree stage. I don't make things liquified , but make them the consistancy of finely chopped tuna. But do ask your surgeon. Good luck. Dianne
