I thought I'd introduce myself
I've been reading getting to know all of you for a couple of weeks. After many years of thought, two years of conversation and encouragement from my doctor and 1 year of serious contemplation I have made the decision to pursue WLS. Actually, I think my knees made the decision for me!
I called the offices or Irgau and Wynn this past Friday who asked if they could call me back this past Tuesday. I don't think I need to mention the phone problems with the move so I am still waiting to schedule my consult. I have barely begun this journey and I know it is a fairly long process. But from reading this message board and seeing the kindness and support and love on this board I don't think that journey will seem so long after all.
I am Georgette, please call me Gigee.
Welcome Georgette!
I'm newly postop, but been on these boards for a while and I can honestly say that your knees may have made the decision to schedule the appointment, but you have made two great choices #1 Drs Wynn and Irgau and #2 The message boards. Good luck in your journey and keep posting so we can get to know you. Join us at some of the meetings.
Dianne
Hello Gigee....I guess this is welcome to both of us. We are alike in both ways because I do believe my knees made the decision for me as well. After having them each one of the scoped and now with "unlce arthr" (smile) having moved in - there is not enough room for all of us. My appt with Dr I was made last year (Sept) and I got in to see him in May. July is when all my appts where scheduled and they start to roll around quickly. It will seem like you have only just begun but time will creep up quickly. I put into my head...it took my a long time to get the way I am and it will probably take less time to fix me. I wish us both luck on the journey we are about to take. Because we both will be able to dance to our tune
Welcome Gigee!!
I have been a part of this board for about 5 or 6 months now, and i can honestly say, the support that i have received has been overwhelming! These are great people here and will answer anything that you need answered!! Believe me, i have asked many questions since being here! lol Just like Diane said, you couldn't have chosen a better set of surgeons! Dr. Wynn is my surgeon and she is just totally awesome!! Of course the best part about this is that no matter what doctor you see on a regular basis, either Wynn or Irgau, they are BOTH in the OR performing the surgery on you, so you have 2 excellent surgeons doing the procedure together! I had my Pre-Op appointment this morning with Dr. Wynn and will be having surgery in 19 days. My journey started back in January of this year with my initial consult, and now my surgery date is upon me.......it may seem a long way away, but it gets here quick!! You will be fine. Like me and a bunch of others have said, we will be here for support!! Take care and enjoy the journey!!
Dianne, thank you. I have been watching your progress and I'm so excited for you. It is some of the love and care that I watched being given to you through this moment that made me want to jump on in. My prayers and thoughts are with you.
Mother Love,
Welcome to you! Gotta love those knees. Gotta keep them around too! Best of luck on your journey to a new you. I'll see you on the dance floor!
Shay,
Thank you and I will ask questions, tons! Your moment is just around the corner. My prayers are with you. I heard once that if you want a friend be a friend, if you want to be loved show love. With all the supportive and loving messages I have seen you give I know your life must be full. It is evident in the way I see people respond to you in here.
Joe,
You as well this month! Prayers and best wishes to you. Of course, I think I'm a tad jealous about that trip to the Caribbean. I love to travel and do it often. You'll have to share the memories.
Teresa,
Here's to all those pre-ops coming out wonderfully. I too have been reading daily so I'm sure I'll see you around the boards.
Thank you everyone!
Gigee
Dear Gigee,
WELCOME to the DE board. Truly this is a great place to hang out. It is full of great people who have hearts of gold and will stop at nothing to do all they can for you. Many people on here started out as acquaintances to me but have become great friends. How wonderful is that?
About the knees, boy do I understand ... it was my knees and back that were keeping me from doing most everything that I had always loved, up to and including playing with my children in the fashion I wanted. The pain was getting so bad that truly I knew that I was on the road to becoming totally disabled and was taking the short cut to get there. Like you, I spent a lot of time considering this decision. It was not something that I took lightly. But it has been a decision that has helped to save my life and have given me back a real life. No more sidelining it for me. One of the first things I lost after my surgery was the pain in my knees. It was simply amazing at how fast it was gone. For so long I was in pain, then in just a matter of a few short weeks ... pain free knees!!! I still stand in awe over that!
Looking forward to getting to know you better and watching your journey unfold!!! Best wishes in this whole process!!!
Hugs,
Tammy
PS - I stand in agreement with Dianne - Dr Irgau, is simply a terrific surgeon!!!
