Well, major milestone about to happen for me! My boss has asked me to join his team in the Bike to the Bay. After some thought... I'm going to give it a try. I need lots of support for this one. I'm going to take on this challenge and not only do it to raise money for MS, but to also prove to myself that I can do it. I can't even imagine me even thinking that I would do this 2 years ago... but now.... nothing is holding me bac****ep me in your prayers that I can ride my little old bike from Dover to Dewey Beach come October.... Has anyone else out there done anything like this since losing all their weight? Anyone want to join me?? lol

WOW! You go, girl! That is an incredible goal. If I'm not mistaken, I believe that our very own Rob did a bike event recently in M-town. If I was home that weekend, I would've cheered him on! Keep us posted, chickie... (((hugs))) -Karen

Hey Ginger, The Bike to the Bay is my major goal for 2004. I would like to something extraordinary every year. I have never ridden a bike prior to my surgery for more than a couple of miles. Right now I am in intensive training for the Bike to the Bay on October 2 and 3. I participated last month in the Delaware Double Cross (which was 32 miles). I think that there is 50 mile ride in Dover next month that I may do in prep for Bike to the Bay. I have done a lot of consulting with physical trainers and bikers. You need to really prepare for this event since it is 75 miles each way. Althought it is flat, they are always head winds and sometimes bad weather. I am currently enrolled in four spinner classes a week. Two back-to-back classes on Wednesday night. I also do a 25 mile trek every Saturday. There are a lot of bike clubs that have Saturday prep rides to prepare you for the Bike to the Bay. Couple other things to think about. Carry plenty of fluids. They always have water at the rest stations. Think about what kind of fuel you need, since the rest stops will probably only have peanut butter sandwiches and cookies. Not exactly GSB foods. Please make sure you track me down at the ride. I am still looking for corporate sponsors. I have written to obesityhelp.com, Oprah, Unjury, and RealMeals in the past week. I am going to join one of the local teams up here, although I'm not sure which one. Good luck and keep in contact. Rob

This is good news!! We will have one another to keep motivated. I'm going to ride with State Farm Insurance. This is all new to me so I thank you for the input you have given me. I'm going to give it my all... It would certainly be rewarding personally if I do complete the whole trip. Now that they've moved the start from Smyrna to Dover that gives me an extra boost!! Last year it rained and I know many people just couldn't do it physically. Thanks for responding and we'll keep in touch.

Ginger and Rob - You go you two! I'm inspired and awestruck that you are even attempting this amazing trek. I wish you both the best and MAYBE, just maybe, when I'm a year out, next year??? -Valerie

Way to go Ginger!!! I want to do that also one year. My husband did bike to the bay and I WISHED I could've done it with him. I was very envious. It was really nice. Afterwards there was a little 'finishing party' at one of the restaurant/bars on the beach there was a nice breeze and great music and such a great cause! Congrats! I hope you have a great time! Ginger - cngratulations on doing the Bike to the Bay. It is a long way to come I'm sure. I still cannot imagine trying something like that - but then I've not gotten aboard the exercise train yet. I think you guys doing things like this are just amazing. ~Kathy V.
