Question about SF/FF/DECAF International Coffee
Girlfriend,
We GOTTA meet! You and I are so alike, or at least it seems so. Am I ready? I feel like there are a zillion things I need to accomplish before next week but I know I'll make it one way or another. It's like I'm preparing to go on vacation (but for the rest of my life! HAHA!). I am the queen of lists these days.
ARE YOU READY?????
Guess we can't blame our night owl routines on caffinated coffee huh? I switched to decaf about a month ago!
BTW, here are some other coffee suggestions. Chai tea is good, it's spicy and to me it tastes like a cross between coffee and tea. But BE CAREFUL! Some of the mixes have tons of sugar and/or caffiene. You can buy the tea bags or loose tea seperately. Also I think the decaf varieties of coffee that look like tea bags are good. (Folgers, Maxwell House, even the store brands). And finally I've tried a teaspoon or so of good old instant decaf coffee (dry) in vanilla or chocolate Unjury and that's pretty good.
Well, gotta go! Get moving on another list item~~~One does not live on coffee alone!
Kit.
If it has any sugar alcohol, it will say so on the label right under where the regular sugar is listed. Sugar alcohol comes in several forms, you will usually recognize it by words like Malitol, sorbitol - stuff like that & the words alcohol of course.
I hate coffee with a passion - but that sounds like a great find for you coffe lovers. You might also try regular decaf coffee with either equal (walmart brand is MUCH cheaper) or Splenda.
Remember - don't drink coffee, tea or cola (diet or caffenee free) with your vitamins. It messes with the absorbtion of some of them (though I can't recall which ones..)
Thanks Ginger, I have reluctantly given up caffiene. But it's a month now and it's not TOO bad. You do what you have to. I am committed to making this surgery work successfully and I am not going to let something like caffiene hurt me!
PS. loved your post about the new names (that was you right?) I am Snotty Wafflebuns!
It does but that isn't why I mentioned not taking your vitamins with coffee, tea or cola. I thought too that as long as it was caffine free then it didn't matter. But at the PMRI meeting 2 sats ago the nutritionist said that regular or caffience free, it did not matter, don't tak evitamine with these 3 things specifically because they have something else - other then caffine - that messes with absorbtion - not just of the iron. Maybe someone else might remember the specifics of what the ingredient is - I just know we asked "What about if it is caffine free?" And the dietician said that it does not matter whatever the stuff is it is in caffiene free too. ~ Kathy V.
Thanks Kathy for your advice. It's so helpful to get tips from those who have been there before me! So you (and everyone) keep them coming!!!!
The "Nutrition Facts" labeling says 0 sugars with no mention of sugar alcohol. BUT, I remember from one of the support classes at PMRI that sometimes sugars are hidden in the ingredients list. And this "Ingredients List" has mentions of corn syrup solids, maltodextrin???? Its sweetener is listed as aspartame. Kinda confusing!
I think I'll hold off using it until I am certain, and if I can't figure it out, bring it to my post-op nutritionist appt. I have a couple of other ideas on how to soothe my coffee cravings.
