I've hit a plateau!

Hello all: I need advice. My surgery was 5/19 and I've only lost about 30 pounds. Most people are at at leat 40-50 lbs lost after 2 months. Does excersise play a vital role in how quickly you loose the weight? Should I beef up my excersise routine? I walk and try to get to Curves at least 2 or 3 times a week but I haven't been as faithful as I should. Also I don't seem to eat that much, lately I've been eating more and trying to maximize my protein intake but I've still seen no results. I've been at 250 for the last 2 1/2 weeks. Don't get me wrong, I'm still happy that I'm losing weight... but I just wish there was a way to get past this plateau! I do thank God that I haven't suffered thru any bouts of dumping! Plus it makes me a little nervous because I can tolerate many types of food... and even a little sugar... which is a definate no no.

Hi Tisha, Plateaus are very common throughout the weightloss process. Your body needs time to "catch up". Even though you might not be loosing the pounds I bet you are loosing the inches. Water plays an important role in weightloss. When you urinate you release fat from your body. Maybe you should consider increasing the water intake. But the main thing is your body goes through a "starvation mode" and you won't see any pounds gone. Give it another week or two and the weight will start to come off again. Exercise is also important. I am not great about exercising but I try to walk as much as I can. I am told it is after a year where exrcise plays the most important role of all. Also you need to eat to loose weight. That will get your body out of the starvation mode. Just makle sure you choose healthy, low calorie foods. Hope this helps...... You are doing just fine! Peace~~ Hope

In the begining that happens to a lot of us. Your starving body does not want to let go of anything. One day soon you will wake up & be 10 lbs lighter & wonder how the hell did that happen? The other answer is just don't get on the scale too often. If you really have a problem with it, get rid of it at least for a while & just go by the doctor's scale at your monthly appointments. ~Kathy V.

Hey Tisha, I hear this may happen often during our journey's. Maybe consider increasing you water intake, protein intake and change your excerise routine a little and see what happens.

Tisha, Only 30 lbs. WOW. 30 lbs is awesome in a mere 2 months. Stop comparing. It's natural to compare, but stop beating yourself up about it. Focus on Tisha. You need to stay positive and do what is best for you. Increase your exercise level. Walking is great, but at 2 months out you can start increasing the weight training. It seemed to be just what I needed to keep loosing. I hear Curves is great. Get in your vitamins, proteins and water and you'll keep the weight coming off and your energy will soar. Good Luck.
