Medical Alert bracelet

Hi All, I was wondering if anyone out there wore a medical alert bracelet since having their surgery. Brett mentioned it at my pre-op and my PCP thinks it's a good idea since I live alone. Wondering...since you can only say a limited amount, those of you who have them "what does yours say?" I'm confused! THANKS, Kit

It was about $30 for a small silver dogtag ID and a 24" continuous silver necklace, (no clasp, stainless). They engraved my name, Dr. Irgau's name and phone number,& no NG tube for free. I forgot to have them put No NSAIDS. I am very rough on bracelets. I figure I'll get more wear out of a necklace. I got it at Brandywine Jewlers on Naaman's Rd. Meds like Ibuprophen etc. Always check with your doc before taking any new medication. This included any over the counter meds. Just to be on the safe side. Happy Trails all~Jane

YES, I was there. At first I was sitting in front of you a few rows ahead. Then when I heard you all talking, and realized who you (and Gail Burke) were, I moved back to your area. I was across from your row, with Kathleen Stockman, and Deniece D. We just started to introduce ourselves to one another and chat about our August dates when the speaker started the program. Afterwards, we all were going to come over to chat more but met a woman (God bless her!) who was a first timer, just beginning the whole process, and we ended up answering a lot of questions for her. By the time we were done, everyone had left! Your photo on line doesn't do you justice. You looked very stylish and younger in person.

Awww thank you for your compliments......you were the second person who told me about the picture last night (not doing me justice). I'll see what I can do about that I remember introducing myself to kathleen last night and seen a couple ladies in her row. Anyhow I'm sure there will be plenty more meet and greets. Shay

Hi Kit, I had my medical id necklace ordered from ebay. It cost less than $13.00, and includes free engraving. My angel, Hope, ordered it for me and i am paying her for it. I figured for the price, I couldn't beat it. -Joe-

I saw Tammy's Medical ID Watch on Saturday and boy is it attractive. She said she got it on ebay. I may order one even though I got a bracelet from Laurenshope.

Thank you Dianne. I am quite pleased with mine. Like I said at the PMRI meeting. I simply do not wear jewlery except for my wedding ring and a watch. So the idea to combine the watch and bracelet into one was one that was extrememly appealing to me. I also am alergic to some metals, so I had to be careful of the content of my bracelet. It did cost me more to order it in pure silver, but I know it won't do weird things to my skin, thus causing me not to wear it. Hubby said it was a small price to pay to ensure that I was taken care of in the event that I was not able to speak for myself. The engraving was free, so that helped a little bit. But if you are able to wear any metals, they have really nice bracelets starting at about $20.00 - $25.00. I had mine engraved on both sides ... the top side simply has my full name in script and medical alert cadius? on it. On the back side I had it engraved to say RNY Bypass 10-03 NO BLIND NG TUBE No NSAIDS/Sulfa Dr Irgau 302-369-4300 I feel very comfortable recommending this company ... truly they were top knotch with me. I was very pleased with both my bracelet and their service. Oh another thing ... she let me change the color of the crystals to reflect my birthstones ... and I ordered a med alert charm from them a little later to add to the bracelet to help ensure that the bracelet not be missed in the event that the watch side was up in an emergency. Also, they will do a resize for you for $5.00 plus shipping. I am going to have to get my resized as it is getting way too big.
