Note to August losers!
Had my pre-op this afternoon and everything went super-duper. I am so EXCITED now. YEAHHHHHHHH! But I found out something very interesting...
There are meds that you need to stop as far away as a month before surgery. I had no idea and was still taking two of them (Motrin and BC pills)! I was so scared that it would postpone my surgery but Brett explained to Dr. Iragu that I did not know and I promised to stop immediately. Dr. Iragu thought about it and said I was OK. WHEW!
So anyway, I just want to warn my fellow August losers and those beyond to find out at least a month before if any meds you take should be stopped. I guess mine were so-so and I got lucky but I'd hate to see any of you that might be on other meds have a problem (and possible postponement!)
PS. At your pre-op the office will provide you with a helpful info packet about pre-op testing, the hospital, prep for your surgery....
Denice,
No problem! I want to help whoever I can. Be careful so when you go to your pre-op you don't have to panic like I did! I was so relieved when Dr. Iragu said it was OK as long as I stopped immediately. I know the pill makes you more prone to blood clots so I am pretty sure it has to do something with that. My medical history is free of blood clots, so....yeah!
