Shay, I slept so badly the first night with it on that I was so tired and actually slept ok the second night! I guess we have to just grin and bear it! Good luck and let me know how you do. Kathleen

I've had mine for about 8 months now. I didn't have much problem getting used to it. I still sleep better with it on, but lately (since losing 60 pounds) I can sleep without it. But it is still a security blanket for me. Ken

Ken, What made you decide to sleep without it? How did you know it was time to try it? My surgery is in 17 days so I hopefully will have the problem of losing lots of weight Thanks, Kathleen

Hi Kathleen, I was diagnosed with Sleep Apnea about 7 yrs ago. I just got my 2nd unit in December. It is much quieter and lighter than the first. My setting is at 10. It was uncomfortable at 1st, but I perservered because I did sleep much better during the night. I used to wake up a million times. My hubby said he would wait for me to start breathing again so he's sleeping better too. Since I had my surgery I no longer wake up to have to go to the bathroom either. Sleep deprevation can make you miserable. A good restfull sleep is one of the most beneficial parts of the new me plus I can sleep on my belly now which I love. I'm sure I'll have to go for a new study to say I no longer have apnea. But until then I use the dreaded mask. I am like others, sometimes in the middle of the night I might take it off and go solo. LOL. ((HUGS)) Elissa

Kathleen, I am a Respiratory Therapist and a Regristard Sleep technician and have done some home health care as well. Just keep up the good work on sleeping with your cpap machine. It does take 4-6 weeks to totally start feeling the full effects that cpap can provide. If you are having mask difficulties, please talk to your company that supplied the machine and mask, also search the internet for the newest and latest mask out. Not all DME's carry the latest mask available, so don't take NO for their anwser. CPAP does work it will just depend on you. I am hoping to have surgery myself. I have met the surgen, Pulmonary, PMRI nurse, Psychologist and waiting to see the PMRI Dr. and cardiologist. I am a little nervous but I know this is what I want and need. Take care and Good Luck! Jennifer
