Hi all, Anyone have suggestions for inspirational-type books about gastric bypass/weight loss surgery? NOT a cookbook, (but with some recipes is OK). NOT a how to, (evaluate surgery, find a surgeon, get thru insurance info...). I guess I'm looking for something that talks about lifestyle changes, facing challenges after surgery.... THANKS FOR YOUR SUGGESTIONS KIT

Hello, I have read any book I can find on gastric bypass surgery. The best so far is a book I am reading now called "Exodus From Obesity" by Paula Peck RN. This book is more for the post op patient which most of the other books I have read tend to be for the pre op patient. Paula Peck adds humor along with seriousnes. I highly recomend this book. Also I have read "Finding the Thin Person Hiding Inside You" by Barbara Thompson. That book is great for the pre op and for the first few months after surgery. I have also read both of Carnie Wilson's books which were very good. "I'm Still Hungry" by carnie Wilson was my favoite by her. I have also read "Living and Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery" by Susan Maria Leach..... it was okay but it was not as informative or enjoyable. I hope this helps! I am always looking for gastric bypass books to read! Peace~~ Hope

Ms Kitty, There are books being passed around. I have Barb Thompson's book and Carnie Wilson's 1st book that I'm reading now. Carnie's 2nd book is in Jersey with Tina. So if interested let me know. We share. ((HUGS)) Elissa

Barbara Thompson's book is really good for pre-ops. I've also read Carnies first, and almost through her second, both I think are very good.
