Will Dr. Iragu provide me with a dietary list prior to my surgery on 8/2? Will I get something at my pre-op exam on 7/15? I am single and would like to stock up as much as I can ahead of time. I have friends helping me afterwards but I would like to do as much as I can beforehand. I've already gotten a lot of great suggestions from the posties and I appreciate it! I just want to make sure I "am on the same page" as the drs. HAPPY 4th THANKS Kit

Dr. Irgau will give you a dietary list at your pre-op exam. You may have to remind him or someone on the staff. You probably won't need it for awhile, because you'll probably be doing liquids the first couple of days after surgery, and then move on to pureed foods for three to four weeks. Many people do a lot of soups, chilis, mashed potatoes, egg and tuna salad during the pureed stage. Don't stock too much on one item, because one week you may enjoy tuna and the next it might be the last thing in the world you want to eat. You will also need to crush your medication and you'll want to find something to help you get them into your pallete. I used applesauce since I didn't want to ruin any of my "meals" with the taste of meds. Anyhow that's my story. Good Luck, Rob

This is all good, Rob. I'm printing this for when I am discharged. I think I know it all, but then when I have to put these plans in action, I know I'll forget it all. Kit, I'll be looking for you in the hospital. Look for me. Dianne

Thanks Rob, I knew I could count on a successful postie to help me out! I'll put it on my list of things to ask Dr. Iragu (if he forgets!). Everything you said will help a lot. I've been printing out all the tips everyone has shared since I started checking out the site. I have QUITE a collection of ideas. I really appreciate it! Kit

Ms. Kitty, Dr.'s office will give you a guideline and so will PMRI at you're pre-op visits. They don't necessarily agree. If in doubt, follow the one you feel most comfortable with, other wise this can cause some confusion. Don't worry about stocking up, you might like something today and it will totally gross you out tommorrow. Good luck. We're here for you!!!! ((HUGS)) Elissa
