Mini-Goal: July 4th DoubleCross
Well if all goes well, and the weather doesn't misbehave, I will be out on Sunday morning doing the Delaware Bike Double Cross, a 32 mile loop from one side of Delaware to the other. This is part of my preparation for doing the 150 mile Bike to the Bay in October. I'm hoping that this will help me get through the month long weight plateau, but if not it will certainly keep me motivated.
I'm dedicating this ride to all of you who have helped me get to this point. I won't mention the long list of names of all my helpers, just to make sure that I don't inadvertently leave someone out, but thanks to all of you.
Hope to see everyone soon.
Your bud, Rolb
Well thanks everyone for all your support.
I left Middletown High School at 8am and 32 miles later completed the Delaware Double Cross. I finished at 10:15am. Pretty successful for my first official Delaware ride. There were probably about 300 people on this ride, and some of them can really move. I was amazed when I was working the hardest to have people just whiz on by on my left. I soloed most of the trip, although a few people did strike up a conversation as they passed me by. My legs were a little tired at the finish but I feel like I wanted to put in another ten (he says after he got off the bike, haha), and I was real hungry because all they had at the rest stop were peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, cookies, and bananas.
I didn't do a very good job of hydrating myself during the ride. It's not always easy to balance yourself and drink out one of those little water bottles. I drank a little at the first stop. When I finished I was really glad that I had brought my orange pineapple smoothie in my cooler. It hit the spot. I'll need to get some advice from PMRI on whether the rules for separating eating and drinking during a ride. Time to think up another mini-goal? Stay motivated and healthy.
