I'm nervous.
Hi All,
I'm very nervous about going to Lifeskills this Wednesday night. There is a written test about WLS and a weigh in where I must have lost 9 pounds or I don't pass the class, which means my July 28th surgery will be postponed. I'm also worried that my blood sugar isn't below 180 because Dr. Baag won't okay me for surgery if it's not. I have been keeping track and the blood sugar should be fine and I have been watching what I eat so I hope I've lost enough.
Any help to calm my nerves would be very much appreciated!
Kathleen
Kathleen,
Everything will be OK. You probably don't remember me, but I sat next to you at a PMRI meeting a couple months ago and we talked about both living in PA. (I also whined that I was still waiting for a surgery date). Anyway, I want to tell you, you were so pleasant and positive I am SURE you will succeed! Keep that pretty smile on your face, and your great attitude.

Hi Kathleen,
Nice to know you remembered me! I hope you are feeling less nervous and that your class went OK. I'll look forward to hearing about it.
To answer your question, YES I finally have my surgery date, which August 2. Believe it or not, it seems like time is flying with so much to do, so little time!

You can only do the best you can. between now & the test just try to stay on track. I didn't have to take this course but I would say the more comfortable you are with the materials then the more confident you will feel abotu a written test. Make time for yourself to study whatever you need to.
Best of luck, I image things like the blood sugar & weight loss make you anxious. If you think you are going to be "close" on the weight & sugar maybe you could try a "detox" type diet for a day or two prior? Clear sugar free liquids, broth, tea, sugar free jello - etc. Will this help? I don't know if that is something you can do if you are watching your blood sugar?
Hi Kathleen!!
You will do great this wednesday at Life Skills! I have seen your progress in the past classes and i have no doubt in my mind that you will be fine! If i can pass the class, i know that you can!! Plus, you have had a few extra weeks to prepare. It sounds like you are thining way too much about everything, which could just be nerves. As for the test, it is simple, and you will be done in MAYBE 10 minutes. It's alot of common sense. I will guarantee you that after you are done with the test, you will say to yourself, "that wasn't so bad". A little not too, if, God forbid, there is something you didn't pass, please talk to Gabrielle about it after class. She is awesome and knows that you have been working very hard on this. She will do anything in her power that she can for you. She has a huge heart!! Good luck and try not to think too much about wednesday. Keep us posted as to what happens on the 30th!

Joe,
I wish I could have done all this with our class cause then it would be over. I guess I'm nervous because it's a different techer for the night class and I don't know if they're as kind as Gabrielle!
All the kind encouragement from everyone is really helping especially because many have gone through this!
Good luck on your settlement. It's next week, right?
It's great meeting people like you in this process!
