1 week post surgery vitamin question
Hello everyone,
You all are a great help and I appreciate reading all of the postings.
I am post op 6 days now. Had some problems with bleeding and a low blood count, fever etc. so had to stay in hospital until Thursday. Came home with the drain. Yuk! I actually have two questions, although I do see Brett tomorrow.
1. My drain seems to be emptying an awful lot of blood. About cc's per day. Is this normal?
2. I seem to be having some trouble with agitatation, which I have attributed to the vitamins. I was doing a liquid childrens vitamin, now have switched to the Flintstones , but after about an hour to hour and half, I get real irritated. Therefore yesterday (Saturday) I only took one vitamin, plus my B-12 and other med's.
How does this relate to other's experiences?Thanks.......
Hi Mama,
I didn't have drain issues, however several people on the board have, hopefully they can give you some insight in that area. As far as the vitamins go, perhaps there is a dye used in them that's bothering you? That's the only thing I can really think of. I'm assuming the liquid vitamins didn't have this effect on you, is ther a specific reason you switched? So much of that is trial and wrror. It could be the vitamins then again it could be an after effect of anesthesia too. Sorry I'm not more helpful, I'm sure Brett will have some answers for you tomorrow. Welcome to the boar, glad you're here! Keep us updated.

Sorry I can't help. I didn't have any drain issues either. Brett should straighten you out. The Agitation with the vitamins might be related to the drain problem. Good luck and less us know how you progress. The first couple of weeks can be a roller coaster but once you get comfortable you'll start feeling the progress.

I am 1 week post surgery also I must have been in there with you. I am not experiencing those problems. Although I don't know if this makes a difference I am taking an adult liquid vitamin, centrum liquid, I found it at walmart, you only have to take it once or twice depending on your needs. It also could be an interaction thing with other stuff your taking, Brett should be able to help. Good Luck! you will feel much better once that drain comes out. keep us updated!
