Help with Lap band insurance

Hello I have Amerihealth HMO does anyone know if they will pay for that Lap band surgery? I have documentation as to why I need it done I called To Amerihealth and they told me to ask around! I am scared that they won't pay!!!! Please help!!!

Hi Davonne, I have Amerihealth HMO too, but i am not having the lap band, i am having the RNY. The representative that you spoke with at Amerihealth didn't sound like they were a professional if they told you to "ask around". I would think that THEY should know if they'll pay for it as opposed to "asking around" to see if it's paid for. Sometimes Insurance companies can be quite frustrating! Their answer doesn't sound too professional to me either! If you have this insurance through your employer, sometimes there is a representative in your company's human resource dept that is a contact between you and the insurance company. Usually he/she can answer your question, or put you in touch with the right person at the insurance company. Good Luck! Kit

I COULD BE WRONG BUT dR. wYNN'S OFFICE MIGT BE ABLE TO TELL YOU IF THAT INS CO COVERS THE BAND. DR. WYNN KNEW THAT MY INSURANCE (BC/BS) DID NOT COVER THE LAP BAND. SO YOU COULD TRY ASKING THEM.
