Good Morning, I am 8 days out now so I can help with part of it } The filter (which I have)is to help with blood clots it does not hurt getting it in it makes you a little sore is all. and It stays there for life or mine doesanyway. Now the diet I was one one but it was not a liquid one Hugss Mel

Hi Kristina, I didn't have a filter either. I had Louvenox in the hospital but didn't come home with it. I was told patients with a BMI over 50 needed to do that. As Sandy said, the clear liquid phase was 48 hours before surgery to clear you out and shrink the liver. It wasn't too bad, I just ate ALOT of chicken broth and jello. I ended up cooking cans of soup and sraining them because the canned broth was just so weak. I was just glad we didn't have to the bowel prep thing Linda

I will give myself Lovenox injections and get a filter before the surgery as I have that gene in my blood that makes me prone to clots. My filter is temporary. It stays in for two weeks. They tell me it's no big deal, I wouldn't do this surgery without it because of my history of clots. Everyone is different.
