Hello Delaware, I was wondering if anyone could tell me what protein drinks they are currently consuming. Many post ops advised not to buy a lot of protein shakes before surgery because taste buds could change after surgery. I am trying to get a few different kinds to try out after surgery. Also, I orderd the sample from Gourmet potein and they have 4.8g of sugar, Is this amount of sugar ok? Dr. Miller suggested Myoplex (sp) from GNC. I went in there and they are selling 20 packs of the same kind for about $52. I didn't want to put that type of money into a product that I may not. I plan on taking a field trip to Carb Buster's this week, but wanted to know what all of you were using. Thanks in advance. ~Shelly

Hi Shelly, IsoPure is a good protein drink. Of course, some people may not like the taste. I personally describe it as a diet gatorade. They are sold in 20oz. bottles and pack 40 grams of protein into 1 bottle!! I've tried them before and i like it. Plus, the price can be anywhere from $3-$4, with the norm at about $3.50.......a lot cheaper than $52. Good luck with the search! -Joe-

Shelly, Look at it this way, at least if you didn't like the IsoPure, which by the way can be bought at the Vitamin Shoppe, you only spent $3.50 or so, instead of $50-$60. -Joe-

Shelly, I have used the bottled Isopure and another one called Protein Ice. Both are pretty good in my opinion, but buy the bottle that can really add up! I use Trader Joe's vanilla and chocolate powder. 17 grams per scoop. and about $7.50 for a canister. I mix them with either milk or water and usually some fresh fruit (or DaVinci SF syrups) I also use a lot of unflavored Unjury powder (UNJURY.com) I put that in Crystal Light, soups, mac&cheese, mashed potatoes. Shelly, Your right from what I hear our taste buds will be changing throughtout the WL process. So I wouldn't spend to much money on a bunch of protein supplements right away.... It can be very expensive!! What I plan to do is buy sample products in the begining to have on hand...until I find something I like/comfortable with. Here are a couple of sites that has sample products....1) unjury.com and 2) wlssupplies.com (this one is cool because you can do a create_a_case with six different sample products for like about $10.00 w/S&H and also 3)Vitalady.com has sample products too. Hope this helps..... Guess what I even order my Shaker Cups over the weekend for my protein drinks get three or more for $3.95 each (can't beat that) Shay

Hi Shelly, I buy Isopure. I also use EAS Advantedge shakes, only 15 grams per shake but they aren't expensive at all. They come in vanilla, chocolate and strawberry and just recently have come out with an orange citrus and mixed berry that are less like shakes and more like a fruit drink. They carry them at Walmart. I am also a fan of the unflavored Unjury, it goes really well with alot of different foods. Myoplex can be very expensive, also make sure and check which version you are picking up...one contains almost 300 calories while another version is much lower. I'm not sure about GNC close to you but my GNC here in Elkton has a coller case where you can buy individual containers. WorldWide Protein also is pretty good, it comes in cans and several flavors and has 35 grams per can. Linda
