EGD Biopsy
Hi Everyone. I have really have learned a lot from all your posts and replies. Now I have a question.
I had my EGD this morning and you are all so right about the taste of the spray. Yech! They said I had gastritis and took several biopsies of my stomach. Is this serious enough to push back my July 28th surgery date?
Please, any information would help cause this scares me.
Thanks,
Kathleen
Hi Kathleen,
When I had mine they also found gastritis, and took a biopsy. I tested positive for H-Pylori which is treated with a PrevPack. You take 4 pills 2 x a day. It contains Prevacid, Trimox and Biaxin. My surgery went off as planned but unfortunately I had to take the PrevPack as a new post op. lol I finally came up with a system of emptying the capsules into Spicy-V8 to get it all down! Only for 14 days tho so I managed Hopefully if anything turns up on yours it won't be anything serious and can be treated pre-op. If you do get the PrevPack tho, be prepared for a possible RAGING yeast infection. UGH miserable but can be cleared up with one Diflucan. Here's hoping your surgery goes off without a hitch!

Hi Kathleen,
I had a Biopsy done as well. I had to schedule a follow up appoitment with Dr. Wynn, which when i got there she told me that the biopsy didn't show anything and that everything was ok. In the meantime though, she put me on Zantac twice a day, which isn't too bad. As for pushing the surgery back, I am still scheduled for 8/25/04!!

Hi Kathleen - sorry abotu the spray, it does sound nasty but the 3 times I had to have EGD's they did not use the spray on me. I have not had one in 2004 though so if it is a new thing that could be why. Anyway, your best bet is to talk to the Dr. about your concerns of course but I don;t think the gastritis would impact your surgery date at all. As far as the biopsies - I guess it would depend on the results? Good luck & keep us posted.
