Hi guys - I thought it would be fun for everybody to list their favorite food or drink - or both... and how it adapts to their gastric bypass lifestyle. I have found and LOVE LOVE LOVE Crystal Light Sunrise orange!!! Wow, I really like this stuff. I always thought crystal light was "okay" but I was never a big fan - until now! I hope I continue to love it because I have really gotten my fluids in the last few days. BTW - I wanted to let you all know that the Shoprite in Newark on Rt 4 by Staples now has a low carb center ( i.e. low sugar) located right in the front of their store in fromt of the registers. I did not have time to stop & look ubt it had tons of stuff included refridgerated and my neighbors says it is good affordable stuff. ~Kathy

Well Kathy, Fun topic I also love the Crystal Light Sunrise especially with Unjury. They also make a Ruby Red Grapefruit which is wonderful (haven't been able to eat grapefruit for over 10 years while taking lipitor). But my favorite food/drink is still my Chocolate Raspberry Smoothie and my Pineapple Orange Freeze Smoothie. It is a little bit of heaven that I have every day for morning and afternoon break. Rob

Hey, Rob! I tried the Crystal Light Red Ruby Graprfruit today at Elissa's... First, let me say that I truly hate grapefruit. OK, hate is a strong word...I truly dislike grapefruit. That said...Elissa encouraged me to try her concoction of Crystal Light and the unflavored Unjury today...and I LOVED it! What a nice refreshing summer drink and the perfect solution to my latest milk/protein woes. I have only a little bit of the unflavored Unjury left and need to pick up both the ruby red grapefruit and the sunrise orange that Kathy mentioned...but I do believe these 'summer drinks' will be a success! Thanx for the tips, guys!! Oh, and Rob...how 'bout some recipies for those smoothies? They sound great! (((hugs))) -Karen

Neat topic! I like the Crystal Lite Sunrise Orange too. It seems more flavorful than some of the other choices. Actually, it reminds me of TANG, which you are probably too young to remember, but us Baby Boomers drank it by the gallons when we were kids, "because the astronauts drank it on space flights, hmmm, I wonder if they still do? I'm still pre-op so I can't lend any suggestions for food. But I'll enjoy seeing everyone else's suggestions! Awhile back, some of you were talking about sugar free flavored syrups. Are those the ones like you add to coffee? What can you use them for post-op? I have a Starbucks Passionfruit Iced Tea I love, I make it with their caf-free tea bags, so I guess that's OK. But the "secret" ingredient is mandrin orange syrup (NOT SUGAR FREE). Does anyone know if there is a sugar free version of orange syrup and where to get it (and other flavors?)? THANKS

Check out my previous post. Davinci makes an orange sugar-free, once you get along the way as a postie you can probably add frozen mandarin to it to get it even more grit. http:// www. netrition. com/ davinci_syrups_page.html

Thanks Rob, I am going to try the orange sugar free ASAP. My Starbucks recipe iced tea was one of those things I was afraid I'd have to avoid after surgery. I have a good feeling it will work!
