Visit With Dr Wynn
Well I had the visit with Dr Wynn yesterday about the pains. Seems Dr Irgua is on vacation. Not that I don't like Dr Wynn but I had been seeing Dr Irgua who ordered the ultra sound and told me his steps for finding the cause of this problem. Seems Dr Wynn now wants to an EGD on Monday morning before she does anything else. I think it's a waste and that they should just go in and do exploratory surgery. Dr Irgua nor Brett thought this may be an ulcer. They said the symptoms do not point to that. Dr Wynn wants to check for an ulcer first. All the reading I have been doing do not point to an ulcer. But then again I am not a doctor either. I think I am partial to male doctors anyway. But also Dr Irgua has been my main doctor there. I have seen Dr Wynn for a few post op visits but Dr irgua has handled everything else. I'm not sure what they will do after the scope. Dr Wynn will be proforming the scope and I do trust her with this but I just feel this scope is a waste of time. It has been 6 weeks now and I can not accomplish anything around the house nor be active like I was. This bothers me!
Peace~~ Hope
Hi Hope,
I hate the hurry up and wait thing and test test test. I hope they get you fixed up soon, maybe the EGD will show something easy to fix! ( I am the eternal optimist lol ) I hope this finds you feeling better today. I'm sure Dr. Wynn will take good care of you. I only met her briefly as I have been dealing with Dr. Irgau too. I really like him alot. It's kinda funny when you think she has seen more of me that I have of her LOL.
Feel better soon,
Linda
Hope,
I saw Dr. Wynn yesterday also. I have been having stomach pain for about a month now. I am set up for an Egd on Thursday. I saw Brett, Dr Irgau and Dr Wynn recently. All three think it may be an ulcer.
I hope you start to feel better. I know it can be frustrating. Take care of yourself, I'll say a prayer for you.

I thought I passed you walking out the door at Chiras & you didn't look happy. It is true that the scope may not show anything but it will rule out more then just an ulcer too. If they have to go in to do a diagnostic laperscopic procedure (exploratory surgery) that will not show the doctors what it happening on the inside of your esohphagus, stomach or top of your small intestine. So, it will be good that that have the knowledge of what the inside of stomach area looks like if they have to end up doing surgery. So either way, if they find a problem or not it won't be a waste of time since it may provide important information that will be useful during a diagnostic lap.
I've had 2 EGD's done by Dr. Wynn & one done by Dr. Iragau and both done by Dr. Wynn were a breeze. She does not have them use that nast throat numbing stuff before you are zonked out (at least not at my last EGD)
Good luck, hopefully when they find the cause of the problem it will be easy to fix. Has anyone mentioned scar tissue or adhesions? They can only find that with the diagnostic lap, even the ultra sounds & cat scans don't show them - they can be very bothersome if you happen to develop them which anyone can after an abdominal surgery. They fix them with surgery and you feel better pretty quick - at least for a while unless they develop again.. Anyway.... I'm gettin off point - Good Luck Monday!
Hope-
I agree with everything that Kathy said. It is best to see what is going on in the inside, before doing the outside. I have to agree with you that it doesn't sound like anything inside the pouch, but they must rule that out first. At least that is what Dr. Wynn did for me too. Then we did the surgery and that is when they found the hernia, twisted bowel and scar tissue. I think Dr. Wynn is just being cautious. Hang in there and hopefully the you will get your answers soon. I will be praying for you. Please let us know.
Hugs

It's kind of strange that so many of us are having problems lately. I'm also having an EGD on Monday. I've only gone a few days in my whole eight months post-op without puking at least once a day. Generally it's three or four times. Basically, whenever I eat. I've been having some abdominal pain also. I'm thinking I may have given myself a hernia from vomiting so violently. Anyway, this will be my 4th EGD. Had 2 dilations already. I don't think they are going to find anything this time either. I think the problem is with food leaving my pouch, not going in. Sometimes I can keep the food down for an hour or more, but I am extremely miserable the whole time. Nauseous, pain, just a generally lousy feeling. It's to the point where I seldom even eat anymore because I know I'll be sick. Good luck on your EGD Monday Hope. Maybe I'll see you at the hospital. Mine's at Christiana at noon.
