Hi I'm 2 weeks out and I'm having probelms finding a good protein supplement. I've been trying to make up for it by eating high protein foods but I dont think I'm getting enough.. I tried the BeneProtein from Dr Wynn's office but I don't like it. Part of the problem is that I don't drink milk and I don't like milky drinks like milkshakes... so I'm really at a loss! I tried the bars but the ones I tried weren't that great.. Does anyone have any suggestions for someone who doesn't like milk? I need something that will mix well with juice... I guess Does anyone have anything that I could sample? I'm coming to Saturday's meeting and I'm bringing my stuff from Dr. Wynn's and I would love to trade with someone... I heard Isopure liquid was good? Does anyone have any extra? Any suggestions or advice is appreciated! Thanks Latisha

Hi Latisha! Congrats on being 2 weeks out!! Thats great!! I'm still pro-op but i can offer some advice, that i know of. As for the protein supplements that you mix milk with, have you tried them by just mixing it with water?? I've tried a protein drink that was mixed with water and not milk and it wasn't that bad. I guess it's just a matter of what your tastes are like. As for the Isopure, I like it.....some people can't stand it. I didn't like the Punch flavored one though, it had too much of an aftertaste for me. Anyway, to me, Isopure tastes like a diet gatorade. If you find someone to trade with, that would be great, but if you have to buy it, maybe just get 1 bottle and see if you like it first. Whatever you do, good luck and i hope it works for you!! I'll look for you on Saturday to say hello!! -Joe-

Tisha, Yeah tastes seem stronger after surgery also. Isopure is good, although I am opposite of Joe I like the punch. But I hate the orange there are other flavors my favorite is the blue rasberry There is also protein Ice that you can buy at carb solutions they also have blue rasberry, punch, grape, melon. etc... I get the Isopures because they are cheaper. I also hate the powders and didn't like beneprotein but unfortunately I will just have to stomach them. You will definitely need the supplements since eatin the high protein foods is not enough based on our absorbtion rates now. There are others out there I havent really looked into...One at the vitamin shoppe called nectar...I think that is one you put in water and its protein (I think) someone correct me if im wrong I've been wanting to try that since I heard they were really good. Dr. Wynn also sells grape protein powder you put in water. I didnt like it but you may. Definitely get the protein and liquids in. I ended up in the hospital from dehydration at around 2 weeks out so keep up the liquids and protein Sorry I dont have any extras for you I actually have to buy some more myself as I just ran out. Best of Luck to you...hope this helps Elizabeth M

Carb Busters D'lite on Kirkwood Hwy had a good protein powder that mixes with water. When I first tried it, I mixed it with milk.. yuck. but Ken from there said water.. Very yummy.. the strawberry one anyway. Take a peek there and talk to Ken the owner.. he's great. Good luck.

Hey Latisha, I hear unflavored unjury is good to add to food/liquids warm or cold to increase protein intake. Go to www.unjury.com they also carry flavored as well.....The choc. is good in sf hot coca. Also Roadside Lemonade is tastey.... Sorry I don't have any to share I am pre-op....and these samples were given to me by post-op friends....Good Luck ~Shay

You can also find Isopure at GNC. $3.50 for a 20 oz bottle. lol I agree with Joe about the punch flavored one, I didn't like it but I do drink the grape all the time. EAS Advantedge also has fruit based ready to drink ones. 15 grams of protein, not too bad. Comes in Mixed Berry and a citrus one. I found it at BJ's and Walmart in Elkton. Linda

The Vitamin Shoppe carries Isopure cold in a cooler in the back - at least the one on Kirkwood Hwy does.

Tisha, you can get the bottles of Isopure at carb busters or the Vitamin shoppe. I have found ( and LOVE) the Syntrac Nectar. So far the Apple and Berry have been awesome!! I wasn't crazy about the Carribean Cooler, but it was better with some fresh lemon or orange juice in it. I don't have any problems with milk based mixes but I take the unflavored unjury ( UNJURY.com) and some DaVinci SF syrup (many, many flavors at TXWLS.com) and mix the in the blender with ice and water. YUM YUM!! I'll try to remember to bring a sample of the Nectar apple for you to try. Ken

I live on the soups & pudding mixes from Dr Wynn's ofc. They also have fruity drinks too. The Isopure is pretty good too. I will try to remember to bring a couple of bottles I have extra. See you Saturday! Cynthia Polish
