Well, it has taken me 7 weeks to find something that doesn't agree with me. My wife had an all day appointment at Thomas Jefferson in Philly, so I did some siteseeing. I had a very leisurely day strolling around Independece Hall, the Constitution Center, The Liberty Bell, etc.... I had stopped to eat at one point and thought that I would wait until walking back to the hospital.....I had to go right through China Town you know!!! Well, I was about five bites into my General Tso's chicken and Egg Roll when my pouch said "STOP RIGHT THERE!!" I paid my bill and left my lunch on the table and walked out and back to the hospital. I sat in the waiting room for another hour waiting for my wife and praying for I had to drive home (That is why I had to go in the first place). Of course there was that freakish storm from hell that his Philly, but not delaware. We crawled down I-95 at 20 mph. It took 2 hours and 15 minutes !! and all I could do was wish for I even pulled over once thinking that it was coming. Well, we got home and I immediately ran inside (leaving my half sedated wife in the car) and finally got my relief! LESSON: My pouch doesn't like Chinese food right now. I might try again in a few YEARS!!!!!! Ken

HI Ken - Chinese can be tricky. Tips I've found are these - skip the rice except for the few little grains that cling to the chicken (I get sesame chicken - similar to General Tso's) eat it slower then I eat other things - like over an hour or so. And stick to no more then 3 pieces or so of the chicken - it depends on the size of the hunks of course but about the equv. of 1/3 cup. And I don't try to eat the shimp roll (I get that instead of the egg roll) at the same time as the chicken at all - If I am going to eat any of it, I'll nibble on about 1/3 of it later on. Good luck on future endevors - stick to take out or delivery when trying new things like that for at least a few months.... that way the bathroom is never far off if that situation "comes up"..

Hi Ken, Isn't it funny when you think about it...... the time comes to look for food that doesn't agree with you!! I did okay with Chinese but it was the sweet and sour chicken (tiny bit of sweet and sour) but egg rolls do not settle correctly!! It seems the only problem food I have is fried foods! Glad to hear you walked around Philly! I bet it felt good to be able to do that!!! Peace~~~ Hope

Hey, Ken... Sorry to hear about your Chinese escapade. My war story was hamburger...meatballs, actually, at my husbands Christmas party last year. OMG...I thought I was going to die. I actually had to have him stop twice on the way home...the hot shops on I-95 and some dead-end street. I didn't get full relief until my own bathroom, though! General Tso use to be my fav Chinese dish, but, unfortunately, the sauce has way too much sugar for me now. I also have the same reaction that Hope does to the egg rolls! Lately, I haven't even been able to tolerate any kind of milk, either (which means my protein has plummeted!). But I can now eat scrambled eggs. Weird... (((hugs))) -Karen

Wow, sounds like a fun afternoon Ken. I love chinese, but I eat, chicken&broccoli, and Shrimp with mixed veggies. They go down fine, but then again, everything does with me.. crispy creams too! T

It took me over a year before I could tolerate chinese food. Still to this day I still get a bit "sick" on some of the foods. The nutrionist at PMRI told me that Chinese Foods actually have sugar depending on how they are prepared. Rice is definetly a no-no for me. Spagetti will also get me feeling bad... I try to stick to the angel hair spagetti noodles.
