Well guys, I guess I must be doing something right. I am THRILLED with the results from my check-up today. I am down 48 pounds and was told I am right on target, not too fast not too slow...lol a bit like Goldylocks..juuuust right My A1c was a thrilling 5.9..that's down from over a 7 about6 months pre-op. I am almost considered in the range of being completely reversed of diabetes, like a smidge of an iota of a point and I am THERE! This was the most wonderful part of the check-up and just about my entire motivation for having it done. We talked about the great strides being made in diabetes due to the results people are having from surgery. It's uncharted territory and I feel proud to be one of the ones to help chart it for those diabetics who come after me. My trilycerides dropped from 214 to 124, a whopping 90 points! The doc also told me he rarely sees protein levels as high as mine are. I am thankful every single day I get out of bed and get to have another day feeling so well. I am also thankful beyond words to have such inspiring people to share the journey with, you all play a huge part in my success. For those waiting, your day is coming and it's gonna be the coolest thing that has ever happened to you! Linda

That is awesome news, Linda. Sounds like the diabetes is really turning around for you, and I'm sure you couldn't be happier. Was this your 2 month post-op check-up? Also, I'm curious as to how much protein grams you're consuming on a daily basis. I saw the nutritionist at PMRI today. I showed her my food diary documenting an average of about 70 to 100 grams of protein a day. She told me to stay in the ball park of about 70 to 75 a day so that I can incorporate more fruits and vegetables in my daily food intake. Are you eating fruits and vegetables as well? Liana

Hi Liana, Yes this was my 2 monther. I was 9 weeks out Tuesday. I'm averaging about 80 - 90 grams of protein a day as per my dietitians instructions based on how much exercise I do. Dr. Baag actually told me yesterday that I could knock that back to a bit less now if I want to. I do include fruits and veggies of some type everyday. One thing I have found to be helpful is the salad bar at the grocery store. I go and get a container of this tomato and pepper salad they have...fresh red green and yellow peppers in a fairly light Italian dressing ( I drain that off as I'm putting it in the container ) I bring that home and keep in in something airtight in the fridge. It lasts me a couple days and makes it easy to scoop out 1/4 cup to add to some tuna or chicken salad for a quick lunch. I also try to keep a container of fresh fruit cut and ready to go in the fridge to eat with cottage cheese. This week it's a canteloupe, honeydew mixture. Congrats on being a loser! Linda
