Hello everyone! this is only my second post.. but I'm a loser now! My surgery on Wednesday went well! I agree with the other posts.. the hospital bed was horrible. I'm home now and doing well. I feel pretty good I'm finding it hard to get in all 6 meals.. I'm not that hungry and when I do eat.. I sometimes feel bloated. Is hat normal? I'm not sure how to tell when I've had enough food. I can definately tell that there is something different happening but I can't tell if it's pain, bloating, hunger, gas or something else. I guess it'll just take time o get used to. I really like the fact that you guys are out there and post regularly. I hope to learn all sorts of good things from you guys! Tish

Hi Tisha, What you are describing sounds pretty normal really, we have all sorts of new sensations post-op that take some getting used to, they pass quickly tho. Just remember if there is ever ANY doubt in your mind about what you're feeling, please check it out with the docs office just to be sure. As far as amounts go. I didn't rely on feeling to tell me when I had enough. I measured everything I eat and still do. At 2 months I can eat a bit more now but I basically stick with a 2-4 oz rule depending on what the food is and while I was still on puree I never went above 2 ozs. I also ate by the clock, every three hours or so, that habit has stuck with me and I'm still doing that. Don't worry right away about not getting it all in yet, that will come with time. meanwhile make sure you can add some unflavored protein powder ( I like unjury brand www.unjury.com ) to your food. it's very good when mixed with the new orange sunrise crystal light. Try your protein shakes too. get plenty of rest and don't overdo it but make sure you get your walks in too, that will help alot. Congrats on being a loser! Linda

Tish, Welcome to the losing side of life!! I agree with everything that Linda said. Take your time. Don't feel like you HAVE to get in all 6 meals at first. It is nearly impossible! Ken

Hi Tish! Congratulations on your recent surgery! I hope that your recovery is fast and easy! Sounds like you're normal as far as your new eating. It will take a while before you adjust. Don't worry about getting 6 meals in right away - that will come with time. Welcome to the losing side!! ((hugs)) Carla
