My EGD.....(The official report...Linda!)
I reported to the G.I Lab at Christiana Hospital at 8:30am, waited around for about 35 minutes or so before being called back. I met with a nurse who asked me some questions.....i think i passed that portion! After the questions were over, i slipped into my hospital gown. I laid in bed for a few minutes before another nurse started to wheel me to the room where the EGD was going to happen. It was also my first chance to see and say hello to Dr. Wynn! So, i get wheeled into the room, and heart is beating a mile a minute because of the nervouness. then the nurse sprayed some throat numbing stuff in my mouth....and boy was that stuff nasty! Next i was told that the "wonder drugs" will be administered and to think of something happy, so i automatically thought about my upcoming cruise in August. The nurse asked me where i was going and then she asked what ship i would be on which i told her, and then . I was out like a light! I felt the scope going down the throat and it really wasn't that bad. The next thing i knew is that i woke up in recovery with my father sitting in the chair. When they propped my bed up so that i could sit up, i was still very much dizzy.....moreso than i normally am lol.........anyway, Dr. Wynn said that she saw something during the scope and wanted to make an appointment to meet with her. Apparently it is because i like a lot of spicy foods! lol I did ask Dr. Wynn if it will hamper me getting a surgery date and she said no, so that was a relief. So, i got home and was fine until i sit in a chair and zonked out! I slept for the rest of the afternoon! And that is how Joe's EGD went! lol
The "official" reports are never as much fun as the gossipy ones
Seriously tho, I'm glad it all went well. As far as her seeing something while she was looking, make sure if you need a PrevPack that they give it to you BEFORE your surgery. UGH I had some inflamation and tested positive for H-Pylori. My date was moved up by 3 weeks and the lab report came back after the fact. lol not sure if you remember me trying to choke down those extra 8 pills a day when I was newly post-op. I managed with the help of some Spicy V-8...I LOVE spicy foods so that was right up my alley and the bonus is, it can mask the taste of just about any nasty med you can mix into it.
Glad everything went well for you,
Linda
