Hi gang.........I am in search for some suggestions. I am scheduled for my EGD tomorrow morning with Dr. Wynn. My question is basically simple, Do i need to bring anything with me to the hospital?? Aside from my referral from my PCP, i didn't know if i had to wear anything in particular for the procedure. Maybe it's just me being nervous but i just wanted to make sure that i am prepared. My father is coming with me to drive me home, so i have that taken care of. So now i leave it up to the terrific suggestions of this wonderful board....you're turn! Thanking you in advance, -Joe-

Hiya Joe, Nope, can't think of a thing you might need. Maybe wear sweats cause they let ya keep your pants on and they may be more comfortable...they will take your shirt and give you a gown. Mine was quick and I had very little wait time. When you check in, they will ask you who brought you to make sure someone did, then they will tell them to go sit next door in the heart center waiting room ( it's bigger ) then they go get them when you're done. My mom went with me and she was waiting for me back in my little cubicle thing when I was finished. LOL tell your dad to make sure he listens to your instructions when you leave or anything else the doc has to say because you are gonna forget what she says. They give you those lovely mind eraser drugs. It's so weird to remember yet not. Post and let us know how you did! Linda

Yep I agree with LB. And when they give you those drifty drugs take a niiiiiiiceee deeeep breath and completely relax. Try to snooze if you can. Dont try to stay awake You'll be fine. Its quick and pretty simple. Just let those drugs take you to a drifty place and you'll be good to go Elizabeth M -48lbs

Joe, seems that all your questions have been answered. Don't need to bring anything but yourself and someone to drive you home (and listen to your instructions for you. My wife said that I asked what time it was about twenty times when I came out....I don't remember! I came home and slept most of the rest of the day. Just relax, I'm sure that you'll do fine! Ken

I had my follow-up EGD yesterday(she was just checking post-op because of the lining in my esphogus)...and my....those meds are wonderful! You will not remember anything. In fact, my husband said I was talking to Dr. Wynn afterward..and I can't recall a thing after saying hello to Dr. Wynn and feeling the drugs go through my iv. It will be a breeze for you. Its our minds that make this procedure more difficult. The nurses there are just wonderful! Relax..and enjoy! Hugs, Kimberly

Joe, Hope everything goes well. My BP was so low, 110/40 post-op, that I couldn't get the good drugs. I was immediately taken off both BP meds. YEAH!! I knew it would come down and it sure did so in a month. I had the EGD without anything. Good thing is it only took about 10 minutes. I told Dr. Irgau to do what he had to do and do it fast. Good Luck. ((HUGS)) Elissa

Hi Joe, It's Kathleen from our life skills class. How did it go? I'm all straightened out and my EGD is June 9 and my surgery is July 28. We're getting there!
