Pouch Rules for Dummies
A friend just asked me for this link so I thought I would share it with the rest of you....
http://www.gastricbypassfamily.com/PouchRules.html
I have seen these "rules" posted before, I was wondering if you follow them? Also do you do the water loading as it suggests? I noticed several things that don't agree woth what Dr. Irgau and Wynn's office suggests, such as how long it should take to eat a meal. I'd be
my guts up all day if I tried to eat my meals within a 5 to 15 minute time frame LOL
* Just a side note to those just beginning this process, please follow YOUR doctor's requirements for your plan. Doctors differ greatly in their ideas and there is no one standard of care for this procedure and for follow-up.

Linda,
I agree. My two cents. With this surgery I think you need to stay aligned with the medical doctors and nutritionists that have gotten you to this point. A lot of these doctors have different philosophies on what works and what doesn't, so why not listen to the one you trusted up front. Even within Delaware there are at least three unique surgical teams that differ on how to be successful. If you have any questions, ask your doctor, or share you tips with them and they should explain why something doesn't seem practical to them. It's fun to hear all the different ways to be successful but I think most of us have done pretty well listening to Dr. Irgaau and Wynn (and Brett).
Thanks for listening.
Rob
Yeah I agree with the following doctors orders...but personally for me if I took longer than 15 minutes I would be able to eat more. I dont know if maybe my pouch is a little bigger or maybe my stoma is bigger but it seems the longer I take to eat the more I can eat.
I get the full feeling if I eat w/in 10-20 minutes. Of course if I ate it all in 5 minutes I'd definitely hurl!
unless they were those DARN tortilla chips!!! They just seem to slide right down like water!
Thanks for the Link Ginger! I was going to have to go on a seek and find for that link

Ginger,
Thanks again for the link. I really needed to read that. Although 5 hours in between meals is waay long for me. More like 3 hrs in beteween meals is more like it. Tops 4! I really needed to read abou****er loading and getting tha****er in and that solid protein vs the stuff that goes down so easy (tortilla chips!
). There are alot of great tips in there.
I think I have been drinking waaaaaay too soon after I eat. I havent been holding out that 1 1/2 hour and no****er loading before eating to curb that thirsty feeling afterwards. I always feel SOOOO thirsty afterwards and cant wait. I guess thats why!
Thanks again!
