Protein Ball Numbers...eeeek!
Ok here is what I came up with on the protein ball recipes
Milk.....870 calories
Rice Crispies...220 calories
Peanut Butter 1,520 calories
Protein powder ( Trader Joes ) 600 calories
I'm getting a total of 3,210 calories for the entire recipe, and 229 total grams of protein. I don't know how many balls this makes. I guess according to how big you make them. Say you made 50 per recipe, you are looking at 64.2 calories EACH with only 4.58 grams of protein. I didn't even calculate fat yet.
Not sure how accurate this is, but I know I could get in MEGA trouble if these taste good to me! LOL

If you are concerned about the calorie intake, don't eat it all in one sitting. You can use skim milk instead of powered milk. Oatmeal instead of rice crispies, Little Richards peanut butter and Unjury protein powder. Remember the thing to focus on is protein. And besides it's much less calories than a donut or tastycake.

Yes, I agree it is much less calories than a donut or Tastykake. I surely wouldn't eat it all in one sitting LOL. Focusing on protein is key, I guess I just think it's pointless to blow 60 calories for 4 g of protein and have it be a potentially high calorie danger food, although sweets were never a problem for me, I can usually take em or leave em except for about one day a month.
As for ingredient substitutions, I don't see how skim milk would help because that's liquid and the idea is to form a dough base so you would need powdered. Oatmeal would supply more fiber than the Rice Crispies. natural peanut butter makes no difference fat or calorie wise, just a matter of the added grams of sugar per serving. The unjury would make it slightly less calorie wise compared to the Trader Joes which is the canister I had handy to calculate from.
I guess my overall point would be to stop and take a look at ANY recipe and make sure it's something you want to include in your diet. What may seem at first glance to be a protein supplement, could in reality get people in alot of trouble, especially ones coming off of the Atkins mentality that quantity and fat don't matter. Eventually calories will matter more than they do now so I think it's important to get in the habit early to know what we are putting into our mouths and not get into the "it's protein so it must be ok" mindset.
Sorry if my post sounds *****y but none of us ended up even having this surgery due to smart food choices. Treats are good and a necessary part of any food plan, but good choices and informed choices.
