Help
Previously I was able to eat mostly everything, even though I did not eat much. But now the same foods are making me nauseaous.I can't stand the food smells. My husband is trying to hard to cook me meals but the only thing I can seem to tolerate is really simple stuff like oatmeal and maybe chicken noodle soup. Having difficulty with protein drinks also. Any ideas? Still not getting around as much as I would like to but every day is getting better. PT came to the house and said I am on the right track.
Hi Karen,
I would just keep it simple for now and this will pass I'm sure. Make SURE you are able to stay hydrated right now, is drinking a problem? If so, try sipping on some hot decaf tea, it was a lifesaver for me when water was making my pouch feel a bit achey. What exactly is the problem you are having with the protein drinks? Is it taste or texture? Try some of the Atkins ready done ones if you like something a bit sweeter, there are ones that have higher protein counts but that will do you no good if you can't get them down at this point.
Try belnding some canned chicken with a little mayo, no smell, no cooking and good protein, make it really smooth nd it should go down easily. You are probably still weak from just getting home, you had quite an ordeal and it will take time to feel better. make sure you keep using your incentive spirometer, especially if you aren't getting in much activity right now.
Just do the best you can and each day will get better and better. I hope you are feeling better soon.

Karen,
Deffinately keep up you fluids.. even warm tea...decaf of course. They say that one day you can tolerate something fine, and the next you can't. Stick to what works for you right now, it's very early, just give your new little pouchy easy things to digest. Do you like yogurt? I took some beef veggie soups and pureed them. Keep it simple dear, hang in there, it gets better.

I'm right there with the others...make sure you are hydrated. Try protein ice found at carb solutions but DONT get the ones that have a sports bottle sucker top! they taste COMPLETELY different and are real gross. The others that have the regular caps are yummy. blue rasberry, fruit punch, grape they are good. (must be a manufaturing error of some sort) Just work on the liquids. I also put a mint tea bag in my water it soothed my belly and I was able to get in the liquids as water by itself hurt I was in the same situation as you except I couldnt tolerate any food even pureed (still makes me nauseous thinking about it lol) Best Wishes! Hang in there it will definitely get better! another 2 weeks and you will be able to really start feeling the difference and almost be healed completely

Thanks for all your suggestions. Went for 2 week check up yesterday. They removed staples. Brett thinks I am dehydrated. Went and got Isopure and am trying to drink that. Everyday I am trying to push myself more. It does get a little better each day. Still need to go to physical therapy. Your support is appreicated. Sorry I haven't been on the computer too much. Will catch up with everyone later. God Bless.
