The smelly smell of protein powder

I know this probably has more to do with being pregnant then anything else. But I HATE the smell of protein powders. And I'm having little sucsess with being creative. Everything I try still is not enough to mask the smell or taste. Even Unjury no flavor pwder has a flavor - and DEFINATELY has a smell. I just tried I cherry necter recipie with chrushed Ice, very cherry necter powder, extra splenda and a NSA cherry creamcicle.. blech. My 2 yr old liked it but that was it. So, is it just my pregnant self or is anyone else craving low smelling concentrated forms of protein suppliments? I swear, if I had the $$ I would find a way to but protein in a pill!

I feel the same and I am not prego! I tried a bunch of the protein drinks from the doctors office and I had to throw them out before I even tasted them. I had liked the choc. and vanilla Unjury BEFORE my surgery, but now they are so sweet. I never used sugar or sweetner in my coffee pre-opt. and now I can't find any protein powder that I can get down or any flavored drinks for that matter that are not full of sweetner or that don't smell bad. I am sure someone out there will give us some ideas of what they do.

Kathy, I cannot stand the smell of protien powder. I buy the cans of Worldwide Pure protien, 35 grams a can at the Vitamin Shoppe. They are pricey though, $36.00 a twelve pack, with my discount works out to be about $26.00. I like the cappucino flavor. I do add a little water, because they are a little on the thick side.

Do they sell them in single cans? I know they have that cooler at the back of the store. You don't work there do you? I have some kind of card with them but I don't think it is a discount card. I have not tried ANY of the premade protein shakes in a can so that is an option worth exploring - especially if they sell them by the single can. It just almost physically hurts to hand over like $3 bucks for a single can or bottle of anything! lol.

Hey Kathy, Sorry about the protein powder smell. Is it actually smelling the mix, or drinking it? If it is drinking the powder, try mixing it with milk or soy milk. If it is the powder, I got nothing. I think it might be more of a pregnancy thing. I would think that you might have more aversion to the cans, since they always have that afterbite. And they are actually more like $4 a can. If you find them at GNC they always have a 10% discount the first six days of the month. Have you tried Trader Joe's protein powder. I don't use it, but my wife does. It's fairly inexpensive compared to the other wheys and mixes up well. I'm still using Unjury and Real Meals. In fact I just ordered a new case of each yesterday. Hope it gets here soon. Hope to see you soon, Rob

I had the worst time with protein drinks in the begining! I had finally given up hope on any! But back in January when I went to Carb Busters Ed had me try the Protein Delite. I was amazed that I actually liked it! I buy the banana yogurt flavor and use jus****er. it smells like banana when you mix it. Everything else I tried gave me the horrible after taste of protein and I would end up gagging! Hope

I may go up there to try it. Last time I went in I had my son & didn't introduce myself or anything so I didn't end up getting offered any samples. My fault!

Have you tried Isopure from GNC? I never could and still can't do any protein supplements. I get all my proteins from my foods. Of course I'm almost 2 years out. I had EXTREME nausea for about 4 months after surgery. I'm soooo glad those days are over! Good Luck to you!
