Just An Introduction
Hi Tom,
Welcome!
I'm also in the process of jumping throught hoops, I'm a pre-op too. The surgery is something I think about every day, but the message board really does help. I can't image going through WLS without the help of all the wonderful, supportive and caring people on the boards. Tom continue to read and post on the boards its therapy for all of us.

It's good to have you on board, Tom. I too am pre-op but I'm using Dr. Miller in Seaford. I received my insurance approval two weeks ago and have my second visit scheduled for May 26. I'll get my surgery date then, but I'm H-O-P-I-N-G for July since that fits better into my very full schedule. Through the process I discovered that I have sleep apnea, so I'm getting used to the C-PAP. My pulmonologist (Dr. Walsh) told me that they hook you up to your machine when you're coming out from under aneasthesia.
Prayerfully, all will go well with your process and the issues that you have will be resolved to your satisfaction and well being.

Welcome to the party Tom!
This is a fun place to get support and learn a lot! It's a place where we truly understand what others who have never been morbidly obese cannot.
Don't worry about the hoops - they just help to ensure you're ready. The time invested in learning all the aspects of the surgery and the nutrition will be time well spent. (I know, easy for me to say, but it wasn't that long ago, that I was preop - but sometimes I don't think we see it until we're on the other side looking back - kind of like not realizing your parents knew what they were talking about until we are parents ourselves...sorry for rambling...) The more prepared you are, the more success you can have.
I wish you all the best in your journey!
((hugs)) Carla
Welcome Tom!!!
Yes, by the time you are having your surgery you will be pretty proficient in hoop jumping!!! I felt like I was ready for the Gold Medal in the hoop jumping competition in the Olympics! *grin* But hopefully all that hoop jumping will help you be as prepared as possible for what lies ahead as well as help your docs be prepared and not surprised by anything in the OR. BTW - I am not sure we as patients are ever completely prepared ... I think we all have questions right out of surgery. At any rate ... I wish you the very best and am glad you have decided to join us here on the DE board. Do you plan to make any of the PMRI meetings? I think they are great ... they have been a big help to me.
Hugs,
Tammy
Well, I saw the Medical Doc, Dr. Boog, and he tells me that the surgeon, Dr. Wynn will determine if I have to have the filter put in to prevent Blood Clots....this is after Dr. Harrad said I was border line with a BMI of 54 and it would be up to me.
Also I got the good news that I have to attend now the 6 Life Classes.
I saw my regular Therapist and she thought I was a little Depressed by all I have beeb going though. I honestly told her sometimes thinking about it all I was ready to throw my hands up and give up....I just don't know at times. Seems a lot of Red Tape, but I guess there is a reason for it.
