Surgery Tomorrow!
Well - I guess it's about time I make my first post! I've been lurking for quite a while. I had the pleasure of meeting several of you at the PMRI Support Group meeting about exercise. I can truly say that you are even more beautiful and kinder in person than you are in cyberspace. You are all a great group of people.
I'm to be at Christiana Hospital at 7:00 am and Dr. Irgau will be doing my surgery. It's hard to believe that the time has come. I had my first appt. with Dr. Irgau in September 2003 (I had cancelled an April appt when I chickened out!). I then dragged my heels until January 2004 and made up my mind that my New Year's resolution was to be healthy. I immediately got on the phone and got all my appts scheduled and completed by March.
My insurance companies (Anthem BC/BS & Coventry) have given me some heartburn. I work for a large insurance company myself - I'm a Compliance Specialist and handle customer and regulatory complaints. However, my primary dealing are with life insurance and investment products, I can truly say that I absolutely abhore health insurance!!!
Well, all that paperwork is behind me and I'm ready to go. I've had a very positive attitude - a little antsy today, I will admit. I'm going to go and straighten up my house and pack my little bag and my blasted C-Pap machine!
My wonderful, supportive hubby, Bruce, is behind me 100%. (although he did just have the nerve to ask if it would be rude to ask me to fix him breakfast!!!) Sorry - I'm a strong person, but the liquid diet is still going on and I'm not subjecting myself to eggs, bacon and toast while I enjoy another glass of Crystal Light!
Thank you again to one and all - your sharing of experiences has been so helpful to me as I prepare for the next stage of my life's journey!
Patty
Congratulations Patty! Know you have the very best team of doctors there is and everyone will be thinking of you and wishing you a speedy recovery. I didn't make the exercise meeting because I was pre-op and sick before surgery...ugh what a nightmare that was lol. Just a cold but enough to make it dramatic I hope to meet you at a future PMRI meeting and be able to greet you as a loser!
Linda
Patty-
Congrats on your surgery date tomorrow. I know that you are in great hands and I will say a prayer for you. Whenever you get nervous, just imagine the new you and what you are going to look like in a few months. Also, deep breathing helps. Please have someone post and let us know how you are doing. Best to you!!
