Length of time
Theresa,
Everyone is differnt according to your personal history and associated risks and health issues. I had my initial consult with Dr.Wynn in October. I had most of my clearance appointments in December, had my date by February. Now, I'm going in for my surgery in 10 days!!!!!
Don't worry, keep involved here and with the support groups and time will fly by! I sure has for me.
Ken
Hi Theresa,
I agree with Ken, it's all according to how in depth your testing gets.
My first call to the surgeon was March 03 for an initial appointment in July, which they ended up cancelling and I went in Aug. My surgery was end of January 04.
The time in between is precious for knowledge. Learn all you can, and when it seems repetitive, consider it reinforcement. So that everything you need to know will be like the back of your hand.
take care,
I just wrote this in reply to Mel's post, too. Like they said before me, everyone is different.
I called the surgeon for an appt in Feb 03, my initial consult with surgeon was Oct 03. My surgery date is 5/4/04. It takes time, but that's a good thing (believe it or not). Keep in good spirits and use the time as best as you can.

Theresa,
Everyone is so right ... it may seem like forever when you first start the process and then suddenly the time simply starts flying by and then you find yourself struggling to find more time. Do you very best to relax and enjoy every single step of the journey ... this truly is a life altering walk, one that I personally am so very blessed to be allowed to make. With all that said, I called for an appointment around Oct of 2002. My first consult was in March 03. My surgery was scheduled for Oct 2003. Seems like a loooonnnggg time, but truly it was not. I was quite busy trying to pull everything (including myself) together and get ready. Please be sure to keep track of your feelings and progress in a journal. Your thoughts and photos will become treasured keepsakes to you as you progress into a whole new (& wonderful) realm of your life.
Hugs,
Tammy
