hunger--every 2 hours???
I didn't experience hunger for a while & then it is usually when I have gone a very long time. These are the only things that I can think of...
If you are waiting 1/2 an hour to drink after meals - try waiting 1 hr. When you drink & there is any food in your pouch the liquid will make it soupy & it will pass through your system faster.
Could you try drinking more water when you are feeling hungry? Maybe it is just the full sensation that would help. Try drinking about 4 oz every 10 minutes or so - you may need to do more or less based on your own full sensations. Figure it like this - our new pouch is similar to a kitchen funnel - you put liquid in & it goes out pretty fast - thicker things take longer. - Obviously it is not THAT simple - but it may give you an idea of how much liquid you can drink at a time.
Other then that - I would mention it to doctor Wynn & get her take on it - it may just be that some people still get hungry often - but maybe she will know some tips to help you out.
Take care

Bobbie,
I wanted to pop in and say hello and congrats on your surgery!!!
As far as your question/concern goes ... this may be something to consider ... if you are still progressing between the pureed stage and the solid stage, perhaps it is that is the reason for the hunger? While, I really didn't have the problem of hunger at your stage, at times I deal with it now. I have found that if I am eating soft foods and going a longer time between meals is when I get hunger pangs. If I am eating more solid (harder to digest foods) it seems to hold me forever.
I found something wonderful in my local grocery ... it is called chipped steak. Basically it is a regular steak that they chip/slice. It is quite tender for my tummy and yet it holds me for a very long time. I get a package for about $5-6 and it lasts me all week. Perhaps that would be an option for you. I have been having one for breakfast and sometimes I fix one for dinner. I find that when eating it I don't experience hunger for the most part. I put some Worchestire Sauce in a fry pan, the steak, pepper, salt and powdered onion. It takes about 2 minutes from stove to table. I also use A-1 sauce to help make it as moist as possible. I can only eat about 1-2 oz before I am full. If I were eating something softer, at this stage I could eat a 4oz yogurt or a full protein shake if I really wanted to do it as long as enough time has passes since my last meal. So the softer it is the more I can consume and the less it holds off the hunger.
I also wanted to mention that while I didn't have real hunger at your stage, I did have head hunger. And on top of that, I felt the need to take food with me everywhere I went. Some kind of weird security thing I guess. Some of the portable foods that I used where foods that I didn't have to eat all at once. Maybe that would be an option for you as well. For me the Tri-O-Plex Protein Bar (Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip - cut lengthwise, then cut into bite size pieces) works real well for me. One or two bites and it takes away any real hunger pain I am feeling.
I wish you the best Bobbie ... this is all such a trial and error experience. What works for me may not work for anyone else and vice versa ... and to add insult to injury ... what works for me today, may not work for me tomorrow. *grin* But it is still all SO VERY WORTH IT (IMHO)! *wink*
Please let us know how it goes for you!!!
Hugs,
Tammy
