More questions
Yesterday I posted with lots of questions. I can't find the original post, but lots of you encouraged me to call my insurance company up front to ask if the surgery was covered. I did that yesterday and they said it is 100% covered if your doctor will verify that you qualify as "morbidly obese". I think I am just on the cusp between severly and morbidly so we'll see. I am terrified of having surgery. I've never had surgery of any kind before and really have never had any health problems except for this stupid weight. I keep going back and forth because there are so many different opinions out there.
I do have some questions - can someone give me a time line of what to expect post surgery? Example - how long before able to be up and around, how long do I have do be on a liquid only diet?? Things like that.
Also - this might be a dumb question, but are people who have had the surgery able to get pregnant after???
Hi Shannon.........you have some very good questions. A lot of those can be answered at the support meetings at PMRI on Saturdays or Monday evenings. I'm still in the Pre-Op stage myself, and hopefully will be getting a surgery date in the next few months. There are some wonderful people on the message boards that can offer more suggestions. The liquid diet is 48 hours before surgery. And yes, you can get pregnant after surgery, but i'm not sure what the "waiting period" is. And by the way, no questions are "dumb" questions. We are all here to offer support to each, both Pre and Post Op. Good Luck on your journey! We're here if you need us!!
