stupid isurance
Hi Clint,
Most insurance companies will not pay for plastics unless it is medical reasons. I keep a journal of my rashes and what not for when the time comes to have plastics done. Cosmetics reasons are ot good enuogh for insraucne companies but if you get a good doctor who is willing to push medical reasons then there is a better chance of coverage. You should appeal their decesion and maybe get another opinion from another plastics surgeon. Best of luck! Hope
hey clint,
most of the time it all comes down to wording. if your doctor doesn't use the write wording it can cause it to be denied. also pictures help alot. i used doctor swier in lewes and they worded everything correctly. i also took them a printout that was in my insurance handbook on "how" they would cover reconstructive surgery. most times if the word plastic is used it is turned down also. alot of doctors really don't try hard enough (in my opion) to get insurance to cover reconstructive surgery because it gets denied so much. if you don't have a handbook for your insurance ask for one. alot of times they even have this online. that way YOU know word for word how they will cover reconstructive surgery. don't forget to include any past written history from other doctors that might help to get this covered. if you need any help please email me.
