A question for anyone who can answer it!

Hi everyone! It's the 80's Geek again! I just had my last appointment for clearance, and the cardiologist is going to send a letter to Dr. Wynn..........I passed all my appointments!!!! I am sooo happy today.......I pass all my appointments and the Eagles get Terrell Owens!! Now, my question is this, once all of the doctors clear you for surgery and Dr. Wynn has the paperwork, how long after your final clearance did you hear about a surgery date?? As you can tell, I'm pretty excited today. Ok, enough excitement.......I need to get back to work. I look forward to your answers!! Thanks again!!

Checklist Cardiologist Stress test Pulminologist Sleep Study (iffy) EGD (iffy) Nutritionist at PMRI Phychiatrist at PMRI Dr. at PMRI Nutrition Classes at PMRI Support Classes at PMRI I hope I didn't forget amything. There might be 1 or 2 I missed.Once all this has been accomplished Joe, the Dr's will give you a Surgery date. Sometimes before this has been met. Depends. Hi Joe, I got my date within a few weeks ( my original date of April 14th ) I wasn't due to have my EDG till March 11 but got my date back in February. Next thing ya know I was moved up by 3 weeks! Did you contact the office with the dates when you originally scheduled these appointments? If so you should be put on the schedule soon and you will get a paper in the mail. Like Elissa said, you can always call the office and tell them that you are flexible and ask for an earlier date should one be available. Linda

Thanks for the info! I guess i'm just excited. Of course, If i get my date for this summer, i am moving to a date afterwards. The reasoning behind this is because I'm going on a cruise the first week in August and i will be looking at that as my "Bon Voyage" to the "old" joe, and thereafter it will be "Hello new Joe"!! lol

Hi Joe, I got a date in the mail for the EGD first then about 2 weeks later I received my surgery date, however if it is a date you do not want you can always call the office, they are very happy to help in any way they can. Take care Dana

Hi Joe, I'm an 80s geek also!! Everyone swears I still think I am in the 80s!! Anyway, I had my surgery date before I even finished my appointments. I had seen Dr Irgua last March and was told to make all the apointments and then call Marie with the dates. The end of April I got a phone call from marie that my surgery was scheduled for September 29, 2003. ( as you can tell I am now almost 6mths post op). I'm not sure how they do the scheduling now. I wonder if it has to do with insurance companies on who gets scheduled when. I would think you will have a surgery date within the next 3 months. Congratulations on your journey!! 80s Rule!!! Hope

I had a date with in a week then they called 2 days later said would you like to go in 2 weeks, so you will get an initial date and then if you want it moved up you tell them and they will give you a cancellation appointment.

Hey, Joe I didn't have my surgery date until one week before my surgery, but I guess all insurance co's are different. Mine was BCBS of DE. (((hugs))) -Karen

I would call the office since the procedure and requirements change so often. I had my surgery date right after I scheduled my appointments and I called their office to confirm. Actually the hospital called me before Dr. Irgaau, and before Dr. Baag's confirmation, and told me that I was scheduled for Oct. 6 and wanted to confirm some of my insurance information. I think a lot depends of mobidity and health. So I would just pick up the phone and call the office. Good Luck. Rob

Not sure Joe, the office sounds liek it may have changed things since I was given a date. I was told who to make pre op appointments with & when I got the dates to call the office back & tell them the dates. I did & abotu 2 weeks later I got a letter with my surgery date. This was last July. You can always check with the office, they are friendly folks. Kathy V.
