re: EGD Update
Hey everyone. I got home about 5:30PM. They kept me extra long in recovery. BP was really low. They did the EGD anyway. It was 111 over 46. They couldn't give me any drugs cause it was so low. I just told the Doc to do what he had to do. It wasn't too bad, and it didn't last more than 10 minutes total. He stretched the stoma to 15mm. Then he told me not to take the BP meds anymore. Won't need them now. That's why I've been so lethargic lately. No pep or vigor. Pooped out all the time. Oh and clear liquids for 2 days and see Dr. Irgau on Thursday. Also the reason my hands and feet are freezing all the time. Didn't know that. Oh I do have good news too, before the EGD I stopped in at the Dr's office to jump on the scale. Yippee. 54 lbs so far. Yeah this WLS is good. Just remember to keep the Dr's informed if you feel something is wrong. Don't try to be a martyr. I tried to perservere for the last 3 weeks. TT you all later. ((HUGS)) Elissa
Diane, Hi, An EGD is when they put a scope down your esophagas to look at it, the stoma, check your pouch & the small intestine, to make sure it hasn't constricted.(Gotten smaller) If it has the Dr. can stretch it open again. Makes food & liquid pass a little easier. Most people are given drugs to make you sleep. Because my BP was so low, I was awake. So 2 things got taken care of. Dr. Irgau stretched the stoma from 5mm to 15mm and found the low BP and now I don't have to take the meds anymore. Yippie. Sometimes an EGD is required pre-surgery. I didn't have it then. So ask if you want to know. Some one will answer. ((HUGS)) Elissa
