Discouraged

Please help. I am so disappointed right now. I just turned 4 months out and I have only lost 62 lbs according to the doctors scale. I eat all the protein and work out 3 times per week. I admit that sometimes my choice of crackers for dinner is a bad choice. Anyone else out there going through the same thing.

Hi Shannon. Please don't be discouraged, we all lose at different paces. I haven't lost a pound since 2/23/04 and had surgery on 1/7/04. I'm certainly no expert, but here are some things to think about...have you been getting your water in? How about your vitamins? And finally, are you eating enough? I have been doing some research and it seems like our bodies think we're in starvation mode and that will sometimes stall our progress. That's why (unbelievably) the more we eat, the more we get our metabolism going, the more we are able to lose. What was Dr.Wynns reaction to your weight loss? And finally, here's something else to think about...when was the last time you were able to lose 62 lbs in 4mos? I think that's great! The weight will continue to come off! ((hugs)) Carla

Hey Girl! I think you are doing great!! I wish you wouldn't get so discouraged so easily! You are still doing better then expected when it comes to the charts. You know I am proud of you! 63lbs in 4 mth??? I think it's awesome!! I don't want to see you so discouraged!! It hurts me to see you this way! Look at it this way, with typical diets before...did you ever loose that much weight especially in 4 mths??? I know I never did. All of us are so different! There are people who are a year out and have only lost 75lbs! Cal me if you need to talk!!!'Hope

Thank you CJ. Dr Wynne said that my face looked great and I looked healthy. She thought that it was wonderful. I guess I just keep comparing myself to others and dont seem to be doing as good as them. You are right about the more we eat the better. I would really like to get off the supplements and try to eat more protein with food b.c dr baag got on me for that. he said that I was eating to many supplements and not enough food.

in the begining i compared myself to others too and it almost drove me nuts. remember if you are going to start comparing yourself to others don't just pick out the people with super fast weightloss. go look at your wls month reunion page and look at as many other people who had surgery the same time that you did...even the slower losers. you will find out that you are right on track and even ahead of alot of people. one more thing.......i HATE it when someone uses the "O" word....ONLY....hahahhaa you are doing great. remember it's ONLY been 4 months. hahaha best of luck!

62 lbs sound awesome to me. In 4 months. Keep up the great work. Stay focused and positive. Don't give the negative feelings time to sway you. That's the fat demons trying to get you to eat, graze and do the wrong thing sweetie. Keep up the awesome job. When you get down on yourself, you know where to go for support and encouragement. Hey Shannon, What do you mean just 62 lbs.? Your doing great. I think CJ gave you all the advice needed. Water, protein, exercise. I also believe you lose faster with a positive attitude. Also check your inches. You can be losing there when you don't see it on the scale. The good thing is you probably will break the plateau shortly and be in the losing phase again. Another voice. Rob

Hi there Shannon! Sorry to hear you are feeling down I think your loss of 62 lbs is commendable! I think all of us are different, and you WILL lose more. Its just one of those weeks. On a different note- I believe we have a friend in common. Her name is Karen Marvel, we work together. She told me how supportive you were when she mentioned me, and I would love to attend one of the local meetings. I have the number she gave me, and as soon as I get some time, I will give you a call, hey maybe we can hit curves together someday? I am also insured by BCBS PPO and would love to know about your journey with them. If you are on AOL, you can get me at [email protected] ((Hugs)) Hope you are feeling better, and check the inches out, I hear that alot of times you are losing inches but not weight. Michelle
