Saw Dr. Wynn today
I just met with Dr. Wynn this morning. She said that they have had 2 people in the practice get pregnant in the 1st yr. and their babies are fine as far as they know. There was a study in South America done & it says there is a 10% chance of the baby having neural tube defects. Other then that my only "risks" is that I am not going to lose the weight the way that I would have had I not been pregnant. I'm sure this is true because just in the 1st mo. of pregnancy I went from losing 22 lbs. the month before to 14. But, I don't really consider that a "risk". She said my bypass will still work after I have the baby but I will have missed the period of rapid weight loss where we lose most of our excess and that I'll have to really work at it once the baby is born. She said I need to be really anal about getting everything in as far as vitamins and food. If for some reason I can't it may be necessary for a pik (sp?) line to be put in so I can do IV therapy at night.
I'm having an ultrasound on Monday, meeting with maternal fetal medicine on Tuesday and the dietician on Thursday. That is about it for now Thanks for everyone's concern - you're the best support group ever!
MAN I dont know what just happened but if you see 2 replies from me just ignore the other one. lol! You will do just fine Kathy! and dont worry about loosing weight after you have the baby it will happen and Im sure it wont be as hard as they say after all... we will never ever be able to eat as much as we use to ever again. So the weight will continue to come off dont worry. Best Wishes!!!

Hi Kathy,
I am very good friends with one of the girls that got pregnant. If you need to talk with her and find out anything, please let me know and I will set you up to talk to her. Her baby is beautiful and very healthy! Nothing wrong at all, except that she is losing weight very slow right now. Sabrina is gaining weight and was born July 9, 2003, 11 months after the bypass surgery. She got pregnant right after losing her 1st 50 lbs. Must have been meant to be! Don't worry, you will be fine. Please let mek now if you need any information about it. I am scheduled for my gastric surgery on the 8th and I can't wait!
Take care,
