Carb Buster DeLite!
First of all. Sorry about the reply foul up. I'm a mere mortal and I guess I made a mistake. Wonder where my reply with the names of the three books went?
O.K. now the reason I posted this note:
I had a course at DelTech today so I stopped in at Carb Buster's on Kirkwood Highway. Boy did they see me coming. They had all sorts of samples for me to try. One great one was a protein supplement named RAW 100 (Apple Cinnamon). You can eat them like nuts. 1/4 cup has 25 g protein, 2 g sugar, 5 carbs. Made with sucralose (splenda) so the sugar is from the apple powder. You can check them out on www.raw100.com. They are sort of like a granola. They say you can mix them in your oatmeal, cereral, yogurt or eat alone. I plan on adding them to my butterscotch pudding. On the high side price wise ($5.99) but I don't eat much anymore so I deserve to splurge. More to come...
He couldn't have me leave without trying a new brand of protein bar he is getting in on Tuesday. It's called either Evolution or Revolution, but has 30g protein and tastes better than the Triple Delicious and has a lot less sugar alcohol. And he kept nibbling...
Then he had me try a SportCookie (15g) protein. I tried the Chocolate Chip which were soft and fresh. 0 sugars (uses Splenda), 14 g carbs. Real good. I bought some chocolate chip, nutty peanut butter, zesty lemon, and a couple others. Cost is $2.25 per cookie but that's not bad since I eat one cookie over two meals. Not done yet...
They also had some butten run pecans (made with splenda). They were also good but I didn't buy any.
and the absolute best. They made me an English Toffee smoothie (special small size - 12 oz.) that was sensational. Oh yeah, they give gastricbypasspeoples a 10% discount. Just ask for one of their discount cards.
I'm heading back next Saturday after my class.
So enough about food. Have a great day.
Rob
Rob,
Wasn't it you that had purchased a smoothie machine? I was going to buy one at Kohl's today(the one in the sale ad); But it wasn't on the shelf..but I was told they have a nice one at Costco's. Any recommendations..did you find it a bonus to have this at home? Does it make your day easier?
Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
Kimberly
Kimberly,
Actually my mom got me one at Christmas, but she did get the Smoothie 700 at Costco. It's loud but it makes a tremendous smoothie. We use it three of four times each day. I couldn't get through the day without a smoothie, I prefer it to any of my real food. And with two smoothies I get 50-70grams of protein which means everything else is a bonus. Plus whenever you can't figure out what you want to eat, you can always fall back on a smoothie.
I make a double smoothie each morning to take with me to work (since we currently have a fridge at work). I have 1/2 around 10am, and the other 1/2 around 3pm. I'm actually having an "orange" freeze smoothie as I type. My standard smoothie is the chocolate peanut butter. I use the Real Meal chocolate protein powder, 2 tbsp of Little Richard peanut butter, soy milk, and ice. The machine grinds everything into a smooth consistency. You can always use water and add some fruit if you prefer fruity drinks. They also have a lot of different syrup flavors available from DaVinci. Carb Busters will ususally let you sample some of the flavors.
Rob,
Yesterday one of our members that lives near me stopped by to take me to
Carb Buster Delite. It was my first trip and I too and saw the can of Apple crunchy snacks. I had asked my very patient and supportive friend( who has answered every e-mail, question, concern, and fear about WLS that I have bombarded her with over the last 6 months-THANK YOU CATHY G.!!!!) if she had tried them, and she said no. I bought a can and a few other things to try. As we were checking out, (I guess it was the owner) offered us a sample of them. I really liked them because there is crunch to them. I thought they would taste like cardboard or saw dust, but they were great. My husband tried them (he's thin) and just smiled, which means the can won't be empty when I reach for it. Its a great comfort to know that I will still be able to have somthings to pick at after my post op month passes.
Once again thanks for all the info and support to all of you guys that have paved the way for the rest of us!
that was so funny about the can NOT being empty when u reach for it!
A lot of the things I bring home my hubby 'taste-samples', too. It's generally a 'half-and-half' reaction...some he likes, others he wrinkles up his nose. If I get a "hmmm..that's not bad", then I know it's something that might find it's way to the family table.
I think I've shared this before, but right now, hubby's motto is, "Leave my fat alone!" Hey, whaddya expect from a Spanish man who loves to cook extraordinary cuisine? I didn't even know how to WORK a deep-fryer 'till I met him (obviously, I learned, huh? too well, in the last five years, u might say.).
But I'm working on him to substitute for healthiness. George Foreman made a visit at Christmas and hubby's been cooking a LOT on that, rather then in grease.
Rob, that was too funny about them 'seeing u coming!' (But wait...we're not done yet.) I can't wait to try the smoothies!! Man, you make them sound sooooo good!
Thanks for sharing, Mish and Rob!!
(((hugs)))
