The EGD itself only takes about 10-15 minutes - the recovery time that it takes to wake up is about 45 minutes - but believe me, you will still be drowsy...That's why you need someone there to drive you home - this is a must!!

Try not to worry too much about the EGD, your anxiety is worse that the procedure. I had mine in Oct. I kinda liked it afterwards.. I felt all pampered and stuff. .the nurses were great. I spent a couple hours at the hospital, but make sure someone drives you home (they won't let you go by yourself) and you'll probably slee the afternoon away!
