Hello Groupies, I am sure some of you had this procedure done already. I was wondering how long were you at the hospital? I know they said that the procedure it self is short....But do they keep you a little while afterwards?

The EGD itself only takes about 10-15 minutes - the recovery time that it takes to wake up is about 45 minutes - but believe me, you will still be drowsy...That's why you need someone there to drive you home - this is a must!! Good luck and let us know how it goes!! ((hugs)) Carla

Ditto what CJ said. Sometimes there may be a wait befor the procedure too. I've had a few of them & one time one of the doctors was running late with another patient. So my procedure started about an hour late. Not the norm but I wouldn't have any plans scheduled until that evening. Take care

Hi Shay, Try not to worry too much about the EGD, your anxiety is worse that the procedure. I had mine in Oct. I kinda liked it afterwards.. I felt all pampered and stuff. .the nurses were great. I spent a couple hours at the hospital, but make sure someone drives you home (they won't let you go by yourself) and you'll probably slee the afternoon away! Good luck. T
