Has anyone who has Keystone Health Ins. been told they have to be on a monitored weightloss program by their doctor for a certain amount of time before they would approve the surgery?

Hi Michele, I don't have Keystone but would maybe suggest checking with your doctor. When you have gone in for routine visits was weight discussed, your weight charted. Did he ever prescribe any sort of diet medication? I would think depending on how it was worded all those things would count toward your total amount. Were you a member of weigh****chers at any time and had routine visits with your doctor during? ( even if for other reasons such as a cold etc ) Check into it, it might be something as simple as your docs office typing up a report stating your weights and visits over a certain period of time. good luck! I had bc/bs and this was not an issue but from ewverything I have seen on the main boards regardning this, documentation is key. with yor primary doctor mainly, but also if you've done any formal programs like Jenny craig, WW - or records from an endocrinologist.

Michelle, Aetna requires the Primary Dr.'s notes for 2 years showing weight loss information and nutrition classes for a 6 mo. period of time. I also wrote the past 5 yrs history, drugs, co-morbity's, challenges and attempts at weight loss. Read a few of our profiles. It's usually documented in them. I did. I even cut/pasted the letter I wrote to be submitted with the primary care's history. Hope that helps. Elissa

Everytime I think of this I shudder. I have Aetna and it requires a documented history. I dont think I have 2 years worth of doctor documented history because my stupid previous doctor was incapable of doing anything right including his staff. (sorry very bitter) My newer doctor is wonderful. I spoke to her and we started to document everything. Although I only really have about 3-4 months worth of documentation but my weight is documented and I have various other support from weigh****chers and every other program I was on plus my records from the endocrinologist. I still have that awful feeling my surgery date will be pushed back yet again. But I will keep the faith alive!!! Hopefully all will go well. Just be sure you start as soon as possible. Talk to your primary care physician and start documenting Best Wishes Elizabeth M
