Hi! You are not supposed to go back to work for I think 4 weeks. But I started back in 2 weeks. I work at home babysitting so it was important for the parents of the kids I watch and for my income to get back asap. I did nothing difficult the first few weeks and the parents understood. They were just thankful I was able to watch the kids again. Use our own judgement and the listen to what our doctor says. I'm sure it depends on the type of job you have also. Hope

Hey, snuggles! My disability insurance tried saying they would only pay for four weeks for a gastric bypass but Dr. Wynn's office sent them my records and I ended up being out for 8 paid weeks. I really think you need the extra time...I wasn't ready to go back after four...(physically and mentally). This is major surgery, with your stomach being cut in half and your intestine re-routed. You're still healing inside, whether you 'feel' good. So if you don't have to ru**** I wouldn't. Take as much time as you need and can get! Hope this helps! (((hugs))) -Karen

I had the opportunity to return to work after 4 weeks, 8 weeks, but finally decided to go back half-time after 8 weeks. Dr. Irgaau left it up to me to decide, and since I was on short-term disability there was no incentive to hurry back. Take every day you can and join a gym, take a walk, and enjoy your new self. Once your back at work there is as much time to get into a good pattern if you haven't already established your priorities. Rob
