The Vinegar Thing

Elissa talking about the vinegar from hubby's salad made me remember something. A friend of mine had this surgery last June and she told me one day that she had been finding herself craving vinegar for some reason and started using it on salads etc...then a few months later I read something on the main board about people experiencing the same thing. Seems so many weirdo things happen to our bodies as a result of the surgery I am really curious about this. Anyone else noticed a specific craving for something like vinegar?

Linda, I put vinegar on everything. I have always loved vinegar. I could make a meal out of vinegar, a little oil, garlic, oregano, salt & pepper and of course don't forget the loaf of crusty Italian bread pre-surgery. Now I'll have to do without the bread. LOL. ((HUGS)) Elissa

I used to always use vinegar in my salads and still do. BUT I did find I crave pickles for the vinegary taste and I was not a pickle eater! A friend of mine is craving olives (green). I also find now that since I was never an actual meat eater I know want all kinds of meat. Some of the things I crave are very starnge now. Hope

I'm one of those craving the vinegar!! Approx 3 weeks out, I was drinking pickle juice everyday... I craved it several times a day for about a week or two. I never in my life have done that before!!!!!.... Then approx 2 weeks ago, my hubby was eating salt and vinegar Pringles and my mouth was watering for one! So, I broke down and ate not one, but several.... I have not craved any other type of chip, but these. I know I shouldn't be eating them, but I do... IN MODERATION.. maybe its the salt.. I don't know.... But I just feel I have to have them! ~ Jess

My first craving was for Dill (real Dill) pickles. Vinegar? Not entirely, but close. My wife even pureed some during my first month post op. Now I snack on them like nothing else. The hard part is finding the real dills, so many kosher ones out there! Go figure. Where's Heinz 57 when you need them?

MMMMM I do like the Jewish Kosher Pickles. Gosh from Gamiels. Memories. I don't think they are open anymore, are they? Okay Brian where do you find real Dill pickles? I guess if it can be chopped it would taste like dill relish. What a good idea, Thanks. Keep posting. How are you making out. I see your surgery was in December. How do you feel? And being kinda nosey, Have you lost anything yet? ((HUGS)) Elissa
